I am using the activation key that came with my Dell OS disk for Windows XP. I recently reformatted my hard drive (again) and this time Windows activation says I have an invalid key. I have used this disk and key several times before as I reformat my hard drive every few months and have never had this problem before. Why is it doing it now? Can I get a new activation key?

Call the windows support number from www.support.microsoft.com and choose the ivr menu for Activation. Once you get there, explain your problem and im sure they ll activate it for you!

First of all, Microsoft Sux ***. They purposely make some of the letters on there codes look like other letters or even numbers. Be sure you typing it in correctly, if it looks like an O try a 0 instead. Id if looks like an 'l' try a 1 or an i instead. Screw around with it a bit to make sure one of the letters are not out of wack.

Microsoft just needs to be more people friendly. If none of those ideas work... buy a MAC.
