What if someone did? Would it gross you out? It seems in our society of moral relativity Aka "Do whatever feels good" that sooner or later that will become acceptable. It seems to me that people who don't believe in God, should have no problem with that kind of behavior. I have read many times that good and bad doesn't really exist. And it doesn't affect anyone else, so why did you turn your nose up when you read it? Would you be considered intolerant of someones lifestyle if they enjoyed it and you found it nauseating. Should we make inter-special marriages legal, as long as the animal consents. I mean, interspecial relationships happen even in nature don't they? Plus, we are very closely related to apes. and they can show affection. Why do we even listen to that Bible that tells us we can't do it. Pshhh come on, it says you can't eat shellfish either. Maybe we should lower age of consent to puberty. 18 is random number anyways. Obviously I am being fecicious.I need more space to type

Noone better flag that. I know that is gross and not normal. All I want is an intelligent response from a non religious person on why or why not that is an acceptable thing, in our society of rapidly crumbling morals. I am not a gay-hater, I am simply tired of people saying that is ok to do whatever feels good. Please, give intelligent responses. The whole question was satirical.

Hey ambiguity, name fits well for this topic. I know they are different things, but why is hetero-special relationships seen as worse than homo-sexual. I am saying in evolutionary terms, we should have no qualls with "backward compatibility" in our sexual behavior. So obviously it is society imposing it's morals on you, but are you ready to reject them and live according to logic? I doubt it.

GirlWonder, why do you believe in adults consenting? Why do you have that particular mantra? I don't get how our superior intellect tells us that no other creature wants it? Don't dolphins and apes(along with other animals) have sex simply for pleasure. I have seen the nature channel. So it could be argued by a "beastophiliac?" that they are indeed consenting.I mean, you could wait, till they are 18 in dolphin years and make them adults too. It seems like your mantra is a little outdated for the 21st century.

Sorry Raven's Voice, I'm trying to be consistent with "current logic" on what is moral or not. Sorry for finding some holes in it. I personally find this topic very disgusting. I do like how you delve into my psychie and deduce my favorite news program. However, you are incorrect, I prefer well rounded newscasts. Oh by the way you ignored the part about where I specifically asked for intelligent questions.

I appreciate the people who answered with an honest, "It doesn't bother me." Just so you know it DOES bother me! It seems that you must now battle it out with the people who claim it is wrong simply because it is. At least you truly embody the laissez faire attitude. But to all, I'm sorry I lowered everyones thoughts into the gutters. I think I'm done responding to the intelligent and ignorant alike, I must sleep.

I may be pretentious and an arrogant writer, but that does not make me a barnyard pimp. I just made that one up I think. Anyone reading this can have that one. Say thank you...ooohooo. barnyard pimp. thats a good one.

I will be picking the meanest and least thought about response, to display for everyone to see, and then I will type a last word on why you are not very smart. So everyone hurry and quick get any last minue nastily worded edits or extra comments in before time expires! I'm sorry I'm really not an &$$ in person.

"t seems to me that people who don't believe in God, should have no problem with that kind of behavior."

This sounds like you're saying that if God didn't tell you "no, no, dear child, don't have sex with animals" that you'd think it was fine and dandy.

This is so patently stew-pid an argument, you must be a loyal watcher of Fox "News" channel.

EDIT FOR ADDITION: Awww, aren't you cute? OK then. Expanding the definition of marriage to include single-sex couples would both be a benefit to the individuals involved AND to society. There is ample evidence that people who live in stable, committed couples are healthier, happier, and wealthier than those who are single. Gay marriage is a good idea because it will benefit not only the gay couple but their families, friends, neighbors, and taxpayers whose burdens to care for the gay partners singly would be greater.

Sex with animals would NOT benefit society. And I dare say it wouldn't benefit the animal part of that practice.

Beastiality and gay marriage present very different issues. Each should be evaluated on its own, not treated as if one is a necessary extension of the other.

And there's this wonderful thing called ethics, which is a way to determine if something is right or wrong *without divine authority*. It works quite well.

Dude. Just because there's no god involved in my worldview, that does NOT mean I advocate just, "do what feels good."

The reason it is wrong at the most rational and objective level (the one where I refrain from puking) is that the animal has no choice. It is no better than rape. It is animal abuse.

Homosexuals are two conscious, sentient beings that can consent and understand the consequences of their actions. This means that they are hurting no one. If you can't see the difference, then I think you have not evolved properly yourself. Your insinuations that there is some correlation between homosexuality and beastiality is completely out of line.

As far as evolution is concerned, genes survive because they tell us to reproduce. This means that those humans that may have been beastial would not have passed on the genes for being attracted to animals, and voila, beastiality is not a common tendency.

And lowering the age of consent? It's not 18 in all places. In this state, it's 16. In some states, as low as 14. This is not some random numbers. While everyone is different, we do have a reasonable idea about the physical and mental development of human beings, and what the effects are on them when sex is introduced to early.

Evolution explains morality. It also explains why morality is not a static or absolute thing.

You will find that religion, however, does not explain morality satisfactorily. If religion gave us absolute morality (God's "perfect" will), then you wouldn't have members of the same religion arguing over what is right and what is wrong.

The act of bestiality is a real taboo by any standards. Even if you don't want to acknowledge that it's forbidden according to the Bible. Just the mere thought or the scientific explanation of breeding between two different types of members of the animal kingdom do not make sense. It's only a myth of the Centaurs, the half man and half horse.

It's just not inconceivable. But impossible as to sex positions, and anatomy and unsafe. For example trying to have sex with a horse, or a bull which could kick you. But I heard there are women in Mexico able to have sex with a mule. This is for viewed as a sports event. They had to strap the animal down to avoid killing her.

I also heard of Shepperd's doing practicing it with their sheep as the female sheep has the same anatomy as the human female's sex organ. How about the big dogs that old ladies keep and train them to have sex with them?

For whatever reason. The number of people who practice bestiality is in the minority. And I'm sure they have thwarted and warped minds.
Every human behavior entails some moral responsibility. And the free will of men should be constrained by sense of decency, ethics,
conscience and a good upbringing. This basic element differentiate us intelligent human beings from the lower forms of animals in the animal kingdom..

You just don't condone things, on the basis that they are acts between two consenting adults. Besides, how can the poor animal give his consent.

I can answer this quite well being I'm 22yrold it's fresh in my head for the most part. Now and days it's become a part of what makes a "True" relationship. Teenagers feel like in order to have a serious relationship and to be true to eachother they should have sex. When actaully the best thing you can do for the other person is wait for True Love. They don't learn this until it's to late or if they are lucky like me thank god nothing bad happend well nothing seriously bad anyway until I Grad. and met my husband and we had just had a kid. It's become part of there life. I believe because they are not truly and honestly explained and told sex and what it really means. It's not "sex" I truly believe it's your bodies emotion. But That is my opinion and I'm sure being that I'm still "young" this won't get taken seriously. My experiences that I have been through in the short years that I have lived aged me more then most at my age.

What really is going through your mind? This is really a disgusting question and did you also know that God can read your thoughts? It is in the Bible not to lay with a beast. It is obviouse that you don't really read the Bible or if you do you are not understanding, because in Leviticus it does say not to eat anything except fish with scales, but if you read in the New Testament, there is a verse in there where Jesus says that all animals are clean to eat (well, the specified ones). Anyway, back to the question, are you asking permission to marry your pet? Is this what it really is about?

Who says some haven't already come to that conclusion? Though, the whole marriage thing's a bit far -- it's a sociopolitical construct at the human level, not the animal level. This was the topic of my final speech in oral communications in college and the theme of my final term paper for Society & Ethics (interestingly enough, I got A's in both, despite the professors being Christian ministers, and the fact I took the morally acceptable, conditionally, stance). I also did an entire lecture on the topic for my Fundamentals of Psychosexual Behaviors class because one of the students found out and so I offered to do a first person perspective talk on the topic. Funny thing was... the only person who walked out was so utterly feminazi pagan twit that she had literally earned the nickname "B!+ch Goddess" and none of us were sorry to see her go (she kept trying to make a moral issue of it when we were trying to view the psychosexual nature of it.)

And for the record, the essay for Society & Ethics was a personal perspective paper, not a theoretical or persuasive essay.

I think ur trying to hide ur sick mind behind a pretentious question.
You know what u r stating is against all moral standards. Why don`t u just come out and say what apparently is on ur mind. The very thing u r rambling on about, is what u would like or already have done...sex with animals. This whole subject is repulsive beyond words and I don`t know how it got thru the guidelines.

"as long as the animal consents."

If both the animal and the human want to do it then it's fine with me. As long as no one is being hurt then why should it bother me or even concern me? Well, that's what I would say if what you said were always knowable - if the animal "consents". In reality I would say that having sex with animals is wrong because it's never actually knowable in all situations if the animal consents or not. That's why unlike PETA, I don't support bestiality. I don't believe in god(s), just to let you know since you mentioned it in your question.

Not unless you're an animal of the same species.

You are right, society is getting more and more complacent about everything. Perhaps one day we will legalize marriage between human and ape in the name of political correctness and in one more feeble attempt to validate the false theory of evolution. I mean since we're so "closely related" and all!

The way I see it if we keep living the way we are and traveling down this same pathway of self-destruction if God Himself does not destroy us He's going to have to apologize to Sodom and Gomorrah and all the inhabitants of the earth who were destroyed in the great flood of Noah.

And, by the way, YES your whole scenario makes me nauseous.

It doesn't gross me out and I am fine with the idea of it, personally; though I know it's shunned by many. I agree with you wholly. Besides, who are we to say whether such a thing is "moral" or not? I don't think someone should be able to say, "What you're doing is wrong", for we are all mortals and none of us truly know the truth... We know what we see in front of our eyes and that's all. We all die, none of us invincible, and that makes us equal no matter what.

And really, aren't we all just animals? We simply look different, speak a different language, and have different instincts than other organisms. But then again, all of us humans have different instincts. So what makes sex with other creatures wrong? What makes it different? Because of those few facts? I don't think so.
