Start with fresh, raw peanuts in the shell and roast them yourself.
Difficulty: Easy
Time Required: 30 minutes
Here's How:

1. Preheat the oven to 350°.
2. Spread raw peanuts in the shell in single layer in a shallow pan.
3. Bake at 350° for about 30 minutes, stirring a few times during that time.

Tips:

1. 1 1/2 pounds of peanuts in the shell will yield 3 1/2 to 4 cups of shelled peanuts.
2. Unshelled peanuts may be refrigerated, tightly wrapped, for up to 6 months. Peanuts may also be frozen.

My dad grows peanuts in his garden, which, of course are raw. The best thing he does with them is to make peanut brittle. Being a poor college student, you can even make it very well in a microwave...that's how my dad makes it.

yes that is a stupid question
peanuts in the shell come in a brown skin that tastes very bitter ,peel or rub, this of ,(then they look white )and they will taste great
or you can then roast them lightly in a sauce pan.

Easiest way is to put them in a pan (peeled already) and slowly toast them over moderate heat. Continuously mixing it with a spoon, or shaking the pan to cook evenly. it'll begin to smell great and that's your signal that it's done. add salt to taste and enjoy.

Not worth it doing yourself. A hawaiian treat is to boil them and put some salt of them...delish. It's a different texture and flavor.
