I really am looking forward to a career in the military after high school. Can someone give me a list of military colleges in the United States?

There are 5 Federal Military academies in the U.S.:
- United States Military Academy, also known as "West Point" and "Army", founded 1802
- United States Naval Academy, also known as "Annapolis" and "Navy", founded 1845
- United States Coast Guard Academy, also known as "Coast Guard",founded 1876
- United States Merchant Marine Academy, also known as "Kings Point", founded 1942
- United States Air Force Academy, also known as "Air Force" (and infrequently as "Colorado Springs"), founded 1954

Federal military academies are federally funded -- meaning, once you get appointed, the taxpayers pick up the tab in return for your military commitment. The US Merchant Marine Academy is the one option where you don't have to go into the military - just a maritime obligation and the naval reserve.

There are also a number of state military academies throughout the country, like Virginia Military Institute, among others.

All academies provide a great education, but they are no joke - academically, mentally, and physically. Once you graduate, you'll be a better person because of it.

All the people who posted on here have pointed out the big one's. Make sure to look into military junior colleges, you get your commission in only two years.

In the United States, a Military Junior College is a military-style junior college that allows cadets to become commissioned officers in the armed forces reserve in two years, instead of the usual four. The students must still to go on to complete a bachelor's degree before serving as regular officers on active duty.

There are currently five Military Junior Colleges:

Georgia Military College, Milledgeville, Georgia
Marion Military Institute, Marion, Alabama
New Mexico Military Institute, Roswell, New Mexico
Valley Forge Military Academy, Wayne, Pennsylvania
Wentworth Military Academy, Lexington, Missouri

In addition to the Military Academies, there is also the Citadel and VMI that offer a civilian education with a military focus. many graduates of these School go on to become Officers in the Military.

Altrenatively, you can go to ANY institution that has a ROTC program. Just be sure and choose a ROTC program run by whatever branch you want to join, as it can soemtimes be difficult to attend AFROTC and join the Navy, for instance.

If you are a Junior or Senior in High school, it is too late to apply to the Academies, and you would have to look into the alternatives

Look into the Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md. Our tax dollars are paying for this so why not. The military is always a nice start if you are undecided about your career path. Good luck.

Military is an excellent career, you will cherish the time spent in uniform throughout your life.
May God save you from fighting an unjust war outside your country.
