24 hours is good enough. I've been dyeing my platinum blonde hair Auburn for 15 years.

the only reason a box of hair dye says to use on unwashed hair is so your natural oils protect your scalp. You should just rinse your hair of the excess conditioner and shine lotion and wait unitl its dry, then you should be OK. If you color it with those products in your hair they could slow the developing process or mess with the color. Also, if you think about going to a salon, when they dye your hair, they always wash it first. So either way make sure that other stuff is out then u should be good to go :]

That is fine, but it is always better to have you hair done by a professional, store bought hair color contains several ingredients that are very bad for your hair. It is best to go to a salon or even a cosmetology school where they will do your hair very cheap! Professional products are much better for your hair. If you are just doing your roots, apply it to your roots for like 25 mins and in the last 5-10 mins put some shampoo in the container with the remaining color and apply it to the whole head. This will make the color come out more even! I hope this helps

It should be just fine but from what I have read (I have dyed my hair so many times that even I don't remember my natural color) that 2 days is best. From my experience though, washing the night before has given me the same results as waiting has and it the color lasts just as long. Waiting the extra time has not improved anything.

If your color is fading out that fast, you are probably using a semi permanent color or demi permanent color. You can try what is called Permanent color, which wont fade but will grow out with your hair, so every 4-8 weeks youd just have to get a retouch. I reccommend going to a salon and having it done professional rather than buying store bought color. Also, I would shy away from completely black, once it permanent black its very hard to get any other color, including brown. Hope this helps!

I only wait 1 day before I color. I have never had a problem with the dye not taking correctly.

Mostly it depends on how often you wash your hair regularly. I would go ahead with it tomorrow.
