They generally start at $10 and go up to $1000. If your budget is under $50, then stick with the $10-$20 remotes. I personally like the Philips remote. It allowed me to control my DVR, TV, Surround Sound Receiver and DVD player, plus with room to control more devices. Then, I got serious and bought a Logitech Harmony Remote for about $100. These are the best remotes and you will not want to go back. It has an LCD screen. You press one button and your TV, DVD and audio receiver turns on. You press another button, your TV switches to cable input, your DVD turns off, audio receiver switches to cable input and your cable box turns on. It's great.
