I'm trying to get some cheap fares (less than $1,000.00) for a round trip ticket to see my fiance for Christmas. I've checked most of the main airfare sites, Priceline, Orbitz, Expedia, Travelocity, etc. and all the major airlines. my dates are flexible and I've tried quite a few combinations. Other than all this, does any one have any tips or tricks for getting super cheap fare during the holidays?
Thanks!!

I always go to itasoftware.com and use the month-long search feature for the best fares, or do the specific date search but be flexible on the departing and/or return flights with the dates. Once you figure out the best itinerary (cost, airline, non-stop, etc), you can book on the airline's website. It's accurate, although Southwest (and perhaps a few other airlines) don't include their schedules. I think Alaska Airlines has the only LAX to Anchorage nonstop. If you want to fly through Seattle, you can get to the other LA area airports, such as SNA.

it depends how early you go, if you leave around the twentith of december it is going to be over one thousand dollor sbut i did a search on www.delta.com and it was about 1,032 dollars and returing the 24th of december. if you leave the 17 and come back on the 20th of december the cost is just about 1,004 dollars and i am guessing if you leave even earlier it gets cheaper. if you leave the 22nd of december and come back on the 26th there is a flight for about 950 dollars but this is all on www.delta.com and when you put the dates in that you want and click serch the prices with the boxes around them are the lowest faires another airline to try is alaska ailines at alaskaair.com or www.frontierairlines.com so goodluck i would go with delta but i am biust
