Yes, I actually learned this from a book for kids when I was a kid.

1) Always go in a clockwise manner from the entrance to your room all the way back to it. This way you are not 'scattered' when trying to clean and can focus on each area in an organized manner (this really works, I do it all the time)

2) Put a trash bag in the middle of the room and dump what you don't need in there!

3) Also put a box or basket (or another trash bag) in the middle of the room. Use this one for things you need to decide to 'trash' or 'store' (etc)

Start with those and see how you go!

Put all the clothes in their appropriate spot: hangers, drawers, shoe rack, belt rank, etc. Now what is left? Dishes and stuff go to the kitchen, trash gets thrown out.

To organize the remaining stuff, get pretty boxes or baskets. Hair stuff in one basket, make up in another, pencils/pens/desk stuff in another. What's probably left is "knick knacks" and these can really clutter up a room. Some stuff will need to be put into "storage" and rotated back into the room when your moods change.

When you have everything organized, cleaning is a breeze. Start in one corner and work your way around....of course have all the supplies on hand; furniture polish, dusting stuff, window wash, then finish with vacuum as you back out the door. Done.

Yea! it is called a closet. Throw everything in there and don't act suspicious. This works well for the single guy. Spray air freshner and you are good to go. Dam I'm good!
