Water will be your best friend, but you also may have to look at some of the foods you are eating. You mention that you are brushing and flossing but are you visiting the dentist regularly, to eliminate the possiblity that there may be cavities, which will cause bad breathe. You can also try a tongue scraper I have seen them in drug stores and dental offices carry them. They scrape the tongue where a lot of odor and bacteria multiply. If nothing is helping you should see your dentist for advise it could be something in your saliva ducts, Your dentist should be able to check you thoughly for cavities and such. Good Luck and no mints will only cover it for a bit but will make it worse.

**** all the other answers, the only way to perminently cure bad breath is clove oil, you can buy it at pharmacies or health food shops (i think), put a few drops on your finger and rub it on your back teeth, produce as much saliva as you can and wrinse it around, swallow the saliva again and your breath will be as right as rain, however your mouth may be numb for a few hours aferwards so dont try snogging any chicks in that period of time, the stuff itself has a rather unusual taste

It could be that you're body is dehydrated, so be sure to drink a lot of water. This frequently contributes to bad breath. Also, sugars like in mints will make it worse.

if you follow oral hygiene religiously and your problem persists you might also need to try eliminating certain kinds of food from your diet like some dairy products, garlic, raw onion and certain spices. also try not to eat your food too hot. i mean too hot in temperature. what you eat and drink does not necessarrily have to be cold but make sure its just not too hot ok.
if all does not work you need to see a doctor because you might have an abdominal problem which causes bad breath. good luck and dont give up.

as a dental profession you should visit your hygienist or doctor for a deep cleaning so they could remove all the build up Calculus (hard mineral deposit bacteria) from your teeth and pocket . then after that visit u should do religious oral hygiene and use peridex or periogaurd rinse after brushing and flossing and brush your tongue as well you should be good. then after every thing is good you should see your doctor or hygienist every 3-4 month for recall regular cleaning.

As long as your health & teeth are fine
brushing you tongue will take bad breath away!
to stop yourself from gaging hold the tip of your tongue as you brush
in time you get used of that
you may not even gag
because some people have stronger stomachs

It could be your tonsils causing the problem. That are things that can cause you to have bad breath other than lack of brushing. My son dealt with it for along time due to tonsil infection. He didn't realize his tonsils were so bad since they didn't bother him any more than anyone elses did. Check out other problems that might be the problem. Good luck.
