It is a good deal for the right person. You need to know a little about working on cars because there will be a lot of little things that will need attention. If it has t-tops check if they leak. It is gonna use WAY more gas than your honda so be prepared. All trans ams are respected because they are true american muscle cars that have always been faster than their counterpart mustangs. check carfax for a history report if you want to make sure it hasn't actually been wrecked before. Also you can go to www.thirdgen.org for a ton of info on that car. Make sure it really is a trans am and not just a firebird with an engine swap. If the car is in as good shape as you say, you can easily make your money back by selling it later.

For 1500 you really can't go wrong; however a 350 in that year TA should be a TPI motor, so I'm assuming your state doesn't require emissions testing since it probably won't pass. Either they pulled the original 305 and swapped in a 350, or changed the induction system which would be a pain to change back. If they did a motor swap, you really have no clue whats in there. You'd hope it has the roller cam L98 350 which would have originally come with the car, but that may not be the case It could be one of those boat anchor caprice motors, so make sure you like the car itself. Those cars are going to rise in price as the good ones with straight bodies start to disappear from the road and become harder to find. If all else fails you can part it out on Ebay to get your money back.

Most 80's cars suck a lot. Especially the later 80's cars. That was just a really really bad year for automobiles. Although all the 80's cars are usually 90% reliable. You can buy and 80's and it'll last forever and survive 100 car crashes. But the style of the car and other things such as Air-Conditioning and what not are usually breaking down constantly. I have a 78 Trans Am myself. It is kick a** and really if your going to go with a Trans Am... go witht he 70's ones. Those are the most respected ones. Nobody really respects any other years of the Trans Am, simply because they were stupid. But 1500, do what you want, I dont prefer them... I dont even think its that great of a deal myself.

>A good deal if you are going into chicken farming and need a sturdy coop.
1500 bucks will make a down payment of a new Toyota and you can handle the rest of the payments with the money you don't spend on repairs, insurance and gas.<
