Hmm, I'm an American so I'm not to familiar with India, but I do know this:
Outside of the big two population centers, HDTV is not really avaliable. Also, neither is a good repair service for an LCD. CRTs (being decades old) are more widespread, so while an LCD is going to be a great technical feature of any home or business in rural india, its not going to be easy to maintain or get the best picture from.

LCDs generally cannot show as good of picture as a CRT in 480i (the standard definition) due to most LCDs having 720p or 1080i as their native resolution.

Hence it really depends: if you live in classy, fast-paced urban india, go LCD. If your more in the country, a CRT will not receive any disses.

Price wise Samsung is good.
