i go to an community college an live off of campus.

You will underestimate the cost of textbooks. They are expensive.

Food. Even with a meal plan, you go out to eat and it racks up.
Also snacks and soda to keep you awake. Smokes too.
I drop about 300$ a month on cigs and soda
Alcohol or drugs. Tons of money goes here.
another 300$ here a month on alcohol.
Textbooks
If you live off campus. Electric really catches you by surprise.
Cable / internet.
Parking passes if you have a car.
Gambling and porn eat up a lot of my money too, but i've cut that to under $200 a month
If you're fratty type of person, Chunks of money goes here....depends though on what frat. I know guys in one and the monthly dues while living in the house is about half my rent.
Others are a lot more.
Sororities too, i know a girl that pays $1000 a month.
I take it you're a girl, but its a general question i'm thinking.
But being a girl, probably gym memberships...beauty product supplies stuff. Decorations for the room.

we need more info from you to properly answer this..
What is your major?... Do you live on or off campus..
Sometimes the type of major you are doing, requires additional work or events and they expect you to buy the items needed for these..
Also if you live on campus, you have to have items for your dorm room, change of sheets, pillow, lamp to read/study by, cleaning items.
You might have to be required to join certain organizations, or peer pressured into joining and they have expenses and fees also..

It depends on what school you go to. I know my school has an inforcement of fines [ie: if your room isn't clean, if you don't get your paperwork turned in, if you don't get enough chaple credits]
There's nothing worse than looking in your school mailbox and seeing you have to pay $25 within the next week.

it really just adds up... good luck.
