i am taking this question seriously, although it seems some have not. when i pray at night or in church my eyes are closed. i even go so far as plugging my ears. it's just a matter or focusing on God and your conversation with Him. there are times throughout the day when I say quick little prays of thanks or something, and i don't always close my eyes then. it's not a matter of whether it is commanded. in this case it is what works best for you and ensures your mind ad spirit is focused on the task at hand!

No. The bible say nothing about closing your eyes when you pray. People do it to help keep them from getting distracted when they pray. When driving I recommend praying with you eyes open.

I sure hope not because I pray a lot when I'm driving!

Considering the Bible instructs us to "pray without ceasing" that would make it a little more difficult to do if we had to have our eyes closed 24/7.

I like to look up to the sky when I pray. Sometimes I am looking down to read the list of people I pray for or a set prayer. It doesn't matter because when you pray, your faith eyes are open.

No, not at all. In fact sometimes it helps me to focus if I keep my eyes open and pray. Especially if what I am looking at relates to what I am praying about.

No. I pray a lot while I am driving and that would not only be dangerous but stupid as well, to drive with your eyes closed that is.

It's much easier to focus on God and Jesus if your eyes are closed. But it's not a real good idea, say for instance if your driving down the road or walking down a hallway full of people!

of course not! LoL...praying is talking to God...closing ur eyes helps u concentrate...you don't close ur eyes when you talk to people, right? so u don't have to close ur eyes when you talk to God...its like this...okay...blind people can't see so they concentrate everything on hearing...it helps them here better by them not being able to look around and get side-tracked...however some people who aren't blind can be just as good listeners and just as respecful even though they can look around and watch whats going on...that's how i look at it...i pray to God with my eyes open all the time, i just feel more...hmm...wuts the word...connected? or focused? when i close my eyes! good luck! :]]

You do not have to.

In fact, when I pray while driving, I keep my eyes on the road.

If the pastor asks you to close your eyes and bow your head, it is usually to provide a bit of privacy to those who may want to come forward without all eyes turned upon them.

Most times during church, I do close my eyes and bow my head in order to concentrate on my prayer to God, so that I am not distracted by anything, but it is not required by God.

For muslims, they don't have to close your eyes, because that make you think about other things, not concentrate.
but if there is something that take your attention, just close them.
sometimes I close them without paying attention.
