My little girl has showed no interest in the potty. She will take her diaper off when its wet and throw it into the trash but evrytime i attempt to put her on the potty she gets up as if she has no reason to be there. She doesnt talk so i never know when to put her on the potty cause she wont tell me if she needs to go. I feel as if im doing something wrong? Why wont she start showing an interest? Any suggestions???

maybe she just isn't ready. My oldest is 4 right now. And still isn't completly potty trained. Kelsee her little sister is almost 3 and is completely potty trained. Every child has their own timing for things like potty training. Just be pacient. With things like walking, talking, and potty training. It's all just a matter of when they will do it. Not if? Good luck and hang in there I know it's tough at times changing her all the time. Try changing her to the pull ups with the wet ness liner. That's starting to help my 4 yr old. Because they get the feeling of being wet without the mess or the embarrasment. If you get really worried about it. Speak with her doctor on the matter.

My daughter was almost 3 1/2 before she was fully potty trained. It is just different for each child and they catch on at their own pace and start when they are ready. I thought my child would never get potty trained, but they do in their own time. Just continue to praise when she sits on the potty or even goes a little bit. We used a sticker and chart system that helped and made it fun for her to put a sticker up every time she used the potty successfully.

Each child is different. SHe will go to the potty when she is ready. Make sure you praise her when you take her to the potty, even if she doesn't actually use it. I stopped buying diapers when my daughter started taking hers off if it was wet, my reasoning was that if she knew the daiper was wet, she knew she needed to go potty and had a choice to go potty or wet her diaper. Therefore she no longer had a "luxury" option of a diaper.
I admit that there were a few times that I had to deal with accidents, but she began to tell me she had to go potty or she would go to the bathroom herself. Amazingly, she has never wet the bed!

Whatever you do-don't force it. Every child potty trains when they are ready, and if you let them develop an interest and do it on their own terms you will be a lot less likely to have problems with it later, i.e. accidents and bedwetting. You can try to offer incentives to make it fun, like offer rewards or let her pick out her own new potty chair, but it all comes down to when they are ready on their own anyway. Some children potty train before they are two-some go to as old as 3 1/2. It's all normal. Just be patient with her, get her the things she needs like panties, etc, so you will have them when she wants them, and don't force anything just yet.

I would be more concerned about her not talking yet? Potty training is totally individual for each child. I had a friend years ago who actually used to spank her kids when they peed there pants which was way to extreme for me. I just told my daughter she was a big girl and that if she did pee she'd have to wear the pull ups which gave her rashes. She potty trained easily, but my nephew whose almost 4 still has issues. Just be patient, it will come to her!!!

I'm in the same situation with my son. He'll be three in March and has no desire to go on the potty. He will sit on it if I ask him, but he never actually does anything until he has his diaper back on! I guess the bottom line is, we can't do it for them. The control is ultimately theirs - if we make it a power struggle we'll lose every time. I'm just going to keep encouraging my son to go and hope that he gets on board soon. Hang in there!

I have 5 girls and I put them on the toilet every 2 hours even if they didn't go and when they did go I made sure they were praised a lot when they did go even if they didn't know they went. then they do get into it. And after a while I just started putting them in real undies so they knew how it felt to wear big girl undies that really did it. For a while after trained I would put them in pull ups just incase during the night they do have accidents.

the smartest children are the hardest to potty train!! i have 4 children and one was REALLY hard to train. he trained just after his third birthday.

someone once told me, "have you ever seen a child in kindergarten wearing diapers? yours won't either!" and you know what, she was right. i quit even mentioning the potty and one day out the blue he said "i want to wear big boy undies". and he NEVER had an "accident" again. he was INSTANTLY potty trained.

just be patient. i know she seems a bit old to not be trained, but think about the awesome advice someone gave me. once the pressure was off him (and off myself) it just "happened".
