On Thanksgiving, while at a friends house my 2 year old swallowed a quarter. We ran her to the ER, they x-rayed her, then said go home it should come out in a few days.It is now Monday, It did not come out so I took her back got another x-ray and it hasn't moved. They told me go home and come back Friday. I asked, "then what ?" and he said nothing. So, now I made an appointment for tomorrow with another doctor for a second opinion. I am just worried that this Quarter isn't gonna come out on it's own. How long should I keep waiting and is she going to be ok?

You need to see another doctor ASAP. Stomach acids can really react with the metals from the quarter and can poison her after a whlie (has to be a while). I am not sure about how many days it takes to start working on the metals. I would press for someone to help you. Your first doctor is a moron.

Try cranberry juices--they flush the system.
Kidney stones get flushed out.
The quarter may come out through the bowels.
If the child is not complainin , dont worry, but if the child complains u need to seek medical help immediately.
Dark Karo Syrup is a natural laxative that may bring it on down.
Put some in drink or juice.

The quarter may not pass right away, but they shouldnt let it sit there for too long, because she may get nickle poisning from the metal being inside of her digestive tract. They may be able to give her something, if not it is a possibilty that they may have to operate.

Getting a 2nd opinion is always good and helpful...alhtough if they were not worried it is probably fine. Has she had any bowel movemnts at all? Does she ever experience constipation? If so maybe she it just hasn't happened yet.

I hope it all works out well!
