I don't get offended. If you want to fly the flag of another country, this is the land of the free, go for it. I probably will get a bunch of thumbs down for this opinion, but if you think about it, flying a flag of another country is not showing disrespect for America. It is showing pride in where they came from, but not disrespect of America. I was born and bred here in the US. I can trace back my lines to my american Indian heritage, and also to my English heritage. However, my husband is from Honduras. I, not him, but me, bought a Honduras flag, and it is hanging in our children's room. I also bought one of those flags that go onto the windshield of our car - and it was a Honduras flag. But that doesn't mean that I am showing any disrespect for America.

I see nothing wrong with flying both flags or just the American flag. But I dont think it should be permitted to raise just one if it's the flag of a foreign country. Nothing wrong with flying both though. Ive seen people raising flags from all over but Ive never seen Americans get so upset as when a Mexican flag is being flown. Kinda weird, but oh well. Im Mexican American, nobody can take that from me therefore Ill raise both flags regardless of who doesnt like it.

I have had a mixed experienced. we had flags from brittian, poland, and puerto rico flying in the vast area where i am from (Western New York) and there was no bad response to it. However, I have noticed in Texas that when people fly a confederate flag there may be some tension. This is because it refers to a civil war over th e issue of slavery. I often wonder where those people stand, is it just nostalgia for the South or is it further beyond that like racism or bias against northerners?
Personally, I think we have been conditioned to be a little too patriotic in this country. Someone told me today that you should support your troops even if you dont support the war. Well what if you don't support military actions (I am not saying this is my personal opinion)? I mean, it really is a free country to choose and think as you please. That is why it is beautiful.
Perhaps it is the threat of not being "united." It may even be an us against them attitude due to numerous wars over the years...who knows?

Personally I dont get upset about people flying a foreign flag (as long as the flag of the country they are in is there then its OK with me)... what gets me riled up is when those people who fly a foreign flag then turn around and ask for citizenship rights and other stuff of that country they are in as though they think they are special or something.
Its really a question of loyalty to country. Its hard to convince me that you are a loyal citizen when you keep screaming for a foreign country

If you are just flying another countries flag alone then you need to go back to that country because that shows no respect or pride for the country that you are presently living in.
If you fly the flag of the country you are living in on top of your other countries flag then I don't know why people would have a problem with that. That would show respect for the country you are living in plus the pride you feel for your heritage.
It wouldn't be any different than me flying my Nebraska Cornhusker flag to show pride for my college team under my USA flag.

Doesn't bother me.
I see Norweigen flags in Ballard neighborhood of Seattle.
I have seen Italian flags and Polish Flags in other places.
All kinds of flags.
Its when they are waving a foreign flag on American soil and screeching hysterically about America being a repressive police state.
If it was they would be dead meat already.

this is why!
Nearly 100 years ago President Theodore Roosevelt hit the nail on the head when it came to immigration.
"In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith, becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the person’s becoming in every facet an American, and nothing but an American… There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn’t an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag… We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language… and we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people.”—Theodore Roosevelt, 1907

This actually does bother me because of you think another country is so great, why not go live there and fly the flag. If you are flying a flag and dont have the Stars n Stripes there with it, its disrespectful to me. Most people flying other flags, probably couldnt even own a car in that other country lol.
And dont give me any crap about being racist, I live in NY and I have friends of many different cultures.....and they actually agree with me as Americans.

The only time I do is when it is a mexican flag on top of an American flag, or any other flag on top of an American flag, or when the mexican flag is the only flag they fly. I myself have to British flags in my house, but they are not on top of an American flag. I support our allies, not a trashy country encouraging their citizens to invade another.
