How many souls has Jesus Christ saved since the human race began? Innumerable millions. God was a God of war against heathen nations that were committing acts of atrocities in the OT. He believes in His people standing for what is right. Jesus, brought a new covenant. I'll bet if I went through your genealogy, I'd find a few atrocious acts committed by your ancestors as well. Does that make you a scourge? The difference was that God saw how the pagans would offer their children as burnt offerings to the pagan gods and such, and for reasons such as this, and because He didn't want any survivors around to possibly intermarry with His people, thus leading them off to worship their false gods, did He command they be killed.
EDIT:
BOXER- If you HONESTLY believe that hitler was a true BIBLICAL Christian, you know nothing about the Bible or what it means to be a follower of Christ. When He transforms us, IT'S NOT INTO GENOCIDAL MURDERS!

The truth is, true Biblical Christianity doesn't have high standards of morality and never did. It is God Almighty who has the high standards. If it was possible for any group of people to live up to God's standards then there would be no need for Jesus Christ to die on the cross for our sins. So the answer is no, Christians are not morally any better than anyone. This is why Christ instructed us not to look at other people as a standard of living but to look at Him as the standard.
That being said, God does want us to try to live up to His standards and realizes we will blow it from time to time. But more importantly than even that, He would much rather have us say, "I screwed up again, Dad." because that takes faith. He likes faith.
Another truth is that true Biblical Christianity isn't a religion at all. It's really a relationship with God Almighty. Anyone who kills in the name of Christ or Christianity is making it a religion and is not representing true biblical Christianity.

dude, try 6 MILLION Christians were thrown into the pits by Caesar Nero at the beginning of the Christian Persecution. They were also skinned alive, boiled in oil. And Nero also boiled Christians in PITCH and set them aflame to light his garden.
Now while the traditions of Christmas Trees and Yule logs get there spin from the Pagan traditions (even the date, I'll confess) The miracles and prophecies of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior totalled over 300. His works and deeds were not only confirmed by our sacred text the bible, but also by the writings of the christian forefathers as well as non-christian historians like Flavious Josephus, not to mention the Roman laws that were created for body snatching and the like, once Jesus was resurrected.
(And those miracles were not bites off of other Pagan beliefs or philosophies. Compare them for yourself) You are also correct when you mention how there have been tons of people claiming to be Christians that slaughtered others for the sake of Christianity. Load of Crock. EVERYWHERE in the new testament, Jesus tells people to love their enemies, go the extra mile, put away the sword ( like when He chastised Peter in the Garden when the Romans came to take Him away.) He does mention use of a sword but that because He was describing how unfortunately families would be at odds with each other because some would believe in Christ and other would reject Him.
I'm so sorry that the Christians that you have met gave you the idea that this is what Jesus wanted . Please realize true followers and disciples are just like Jesus, loving and accepting of the sinner, (like Paul said, of which I am chief). If we've offended you I apologize on behalf of my wayward brothers and sisters, because we are not morally better than anyone. We are just forgiven by the loving sacrifice of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Of course we are not better. That is why we need a savior. We are washed clean by Him. We could never obey the commandments on our own. We need God's grace, and someone who would pay the fine for our Sin. Jesus Christ did that for us 2,000 years ago. I would also ask what your definition of a Christian is. If you'll notice, the Catholic Church was involved in the Crusades. If someone is a follower of Jesus, and not just say they are a "Christian", but really are committed to the Lord they will be evidence of God's love. This is definitely not about us thinking we're better, if anything, we know we are not and that is why we have faith in Jesus. The Bible says the way is narrow and that at judgement many will stand before God and he will say, "Go, I never knew you." This is because people profess to be Christians and are not. God will judge them. For you, find truth in Christ. He will set you free.

That depends who is us? I am an Atheist but I find Christens morally better than many people. Why are you trying to condemn the Christian religion they are no worse nor better than any other. All religions fall short of the so called teachings of their fantasy deity. What makes you think all those Pagan killings wasn't justified. They were just trying to get rid of the riffraff heathens. God bless kisses Betty

God is just (1 John 1:9). He saves all who believe and condemns all who reject Him (John 3:18). Hebrews 9:27 says we’re given one lifetime to decide and after that we face judgment. God is not capricious. He does not kill on a whim. He gave the people of Nineveh 40 years to repent. They did and He spared the city. But two generation later they were back to their old ways and He passed judgement on them. God gave the Amorites 400 years before He passed judgement on them. All throughout the bible the story is the same: behave yourself or there will be consequences. It's the tack any good parent would follow.

Sorry I even read this. I thought you were truly asking a question but since you "answer" yourself in the next sentence I see that's not the case.
Based on what you say in your paragraph and your final "description" of a Christian I would then have to deem you a "Christian" as well. How much more close-minded can one be than to answer his own question with a rant?

You're right, Christians have done some pretty awful things... but no one is perfect.. that's why we need Christ... Only He was perfect... But we as humans, are still subject the sinful desires of our flesh.. Satan likes to take things and twist them, and make us think that through our actions we are glorifying God, but in reality we're not. The reality is, we're not perfect, we all make mistakes. I pray that God reveals Himself to you

The question ought not be whether Christians are better than anyone else, but whether knowing Christ is better than not knowing Him. I can tell you that it is far better to know Him!! For we all fall short of His glory....

No. I don't need a book about a bizarre fairy tale to tell me what's right and wrong. It is common sense. Are people so stupid they actually have to check The Bible in order to make moral decisions? Well, I guess so.
