do you find wearing niqab hard? Why or why not? Sometimes I find it hard because people look at me funny and sometimes people say mean things to me. But I have no intention of ever taking it off Inshallah. =)

Al7amdulillah...Sister good for you for following Sunnah of the Prophet SAW. In Canada I wear a headscarf but back in UAE I will wear the niqab (its easier in a Muslim country). Also, dont care what others say about you covering your face, some of them think we are terrorists and some think we are oppressed...its all good if we are doing it to be more modest and to please Allah SWT. Masha'Allah 3aleki!

If you believe you are pleasing your Lord don't worry about it.
But as a Muslim, I don't agree with the veil and think it is extrmeme in a religion that tells us to take the middle course.

the wives of the Prophet didn't wear veils. It wasn't until 200 hundred years later when the practice of wearing the veil became acceptable. The women nearest of the time and during the time of prophet Muhamad (PBUH) didn't veil themselves.

"Beyond the Near East, the practice of hiding one's face and largely living in seclusion appeared in classical Greece, in the Byzantine Christian world, in Persia, and in India among upper caste Rajput women. Muslims in their first century at first were relaxed about female dress. When the son of a prominent companion of the Prophet asked his wife Aisha bint Talha to veil her face, she answered, "Since the Almighty hath put on me the stamp of beauty, it is my wish that the public should view the beauty and thereby recognized His grace unto them. On no account, therefore, will I veil myself."

But if you feel it is right, then don't worry about what others say, we will each have to answer to Allah alone.

So do what you think is right sister! Strive to please Allah alone!

Wearing niqab is NOT part of Islam; it's an old bedouin habit...

a girl should only wear decent clothes infront of people and thats it

Keep wearing it. I'm glad you have no intention to remove it. It is your religious right. It is getting hard for me to even keep my headscarf on. I keep it on because I know Allah approves of my modesty. But some days It really takes courage. God bless you.

I was interested in your question although I am not a muslim, I am just interested in other cultures and how people live.

I would recommend you read "Lipstick Jihad" I loved that book. A story about an American muslim living in California then in Tehran. A truly wonderful read, please read this!
she really discusses what your question is about.

Many progressive Muslim women have thrown away their veils in the last two centuries of human maturity.
There are thousands of Muslims in my country, and I see no Muslim women wearing veils.
