OS X Leopard is the next OS coming out sometime early next year. You can get a Macbook with OS X Tiger now and upgrade when Leopard comes out.

If the newest OS X is reported to be a complete rebuild then you might consider waiting just to get the new features, especially if it's only until January. Do a little research at sites like appleinsider.com to get the latest buzz. Also, check the apple-exclusive podcasts. I haven't heard anything that is going to be earth-shattering though.

Spring 2007 their site says. Sometimes when you order like a month before release of a new OS, you get the new one sent to you when it's released.
