Well, a while back I posted about my cats urinary problem (he wasn't peeing in his box) everyone suggested taking him to the vet, well I did and they said to isolate him and basically retrain him, and they gave him a cortizone shot (he was itching himself raw in spots) and he was fine a few days after, now he won't move, he hasn't eaten in three days, he hasn't pooped (obviously), and his breathing is really fast, he used to run to the door when i came home, now he just lays in the corner and sleeps...so basically does anyone know if a cortizone shot (or Frontline flea medicine, 'cause i put that on the back of his neck too) can have an adverse affect?? Help!!

For all of those who thought i was stupid for not taking my cat to the vet, well I'm not, I was planning on taking him, I was merely trying to see if anyone else had the same experiences with frontline or a cortizone shot, but to let you all know, i took him to the vet and he had fluid in his lungs and they took care of him and he's on medicine now.

Yes, I have heard bad things about Frontline - mostly that it makes cats lethargic and weird for a few days. Are you sure you used the proper doseage?
Is he still drinking water? If not, get him to the vet ASAP. Actually, get him there no matter what. This isn't normal. How old is he?

I am not sure about giving a pet a cortizone shot. I cant even understand for the life of me why they would do that. But I know it is EXTREMELY painful even for humans. Plus, it is very very bad when they dont eat. I would suggest bringing him to a vet, but a different one. Just like with people, it is always a good idea to get more than one dr's opinion about something. Please, definitely dont wait on this. If he is having trouble breathing, he could be having an allergic reaction to the shot. To be honest, I would strongly suggest looking for a 24 hour vet hospital, and taking him. And maybe just pull off the flea collar while you are at it, ya never know..it could be part of the problem. Poor lil one...good luck, I truly hope it works out!!!

I would immediately suspect adverse (very adverse) reaction to the Frontline. This is an EMERGENCY situation. You need to take your cat to the vet right away. I did hear that other people who had applied flea med to their cat bathed the entire application area with soap and water when their cat showed definite signs of adverse reaction. BUT I am not sure of the protocol - BEST contact your vet ASAP.

You need to get your cat to a vet ASAP. This is not a normal side effect of the cortisone shot. He could have a urinary blockage or kidney failure.

ok....as soon as a cat stops eating that is a bad sign and you have to take him to the vet to get checked out. If he's not pooping it could be because he hasn't eated.... OR it could be a bowel problem and he dons't feel well enough to eat. You need to make a vet apt for him!
