No, it doesn't hurt. They usually (I assume you are talking about getting dental work done) swab the area with some crud (I don't know exactly what it is) that quickly numbs the nerve endings. Then they simply stick in the needle and nocavinate. Haha. It doesn't hurt. I mean, you can feel it, but it doesn't hurt. I absolutely hate needles and generally pass out when I get shots, but not with novocaine. Generally. Umm... You'll be fine.

You don't get a shot when they put on your braces. If they told you they are going to give you a shot, tell them you have never had this type of shot. They should talk you though it, If you feel anything it will be a small pinch feeling. It only last a few seconds. You will be ok!

depends on where you get it and ho well you take being poked with a needle. i used to just look away and grab onto something when i was younger. now, after 3 tattoos, i can look a needle into my arm the whole way.
novocaine shots in the mouth for dental work can hurt but my dentist had an awesome trick. she pinched my cheek and pulled it back and forth very quickly and told me to concentrate on that motion while she shot me up with her other hand. it worked great. i barely felt it.
just try to think of something else to keep your mind off the shot and before you know it the whole thing will be over.

Na, I got caps (or whatever their called) over my 2 front teeth one year for x-mas and they gave me novicane. To me it felt like a little poke. Then of course, they grinded down my 2 teeth to make them shorter and skinnier, and then drilled and grinded some more.....ouch it's painful just thinking about it........don't get all worked up over it....you'll be alright!!

the trick is to relax. if you are tensed up, it's gonna hurt. the needles are sharp, but they still have a hard time going through tensed up muscle. that's what makes it hurt
take slow, deep breaths. close your eyes and breathe.
if you can, bring some music, a disc man, ipod, whatever, and some good headphones that cover your ears. it really does help. good luck peace

They numb it with something in a swab, it really is not too bad you do not feel it.
