I am fortunate to be in a part of the world that takes their beer seriously. It is seasonal- the heavy beers that are so delicious in winter are too much in the heat of the summer. If I am just going out and getting something on tap, I like Manny's, Mack and Jack's, anything by Bridgeport or Deschuttes.
Lots of malt makes a beer darker and sweeter, hops make it tart. And German purity laws have to do with beer.

I am not a beer fan, but I really like Blue Moon white belgian ale. It's not bitter, has a clean crispness to it, and is very smooth. It also makes great bread and beer batters. I really enjoyed their pumpkin ale this year as well, which I like better than the regular brew.

PS. Blue Moon is great with an orange slice slipped into the bottle, adds a very subtle sweetness and an extra dimension of flavor. ^_~

I am a big fan of Michelob Amberbock. I do tend to prefer the darker beers. Also, Fat Tire is pretty amazing! I'm one of those guys who doesn't drink to get drunk - I actually enjoy the taste of beer. Cheers!

My faves are Begium style strong dark ales such as Unibroue, Chimay Blue, and Trappistes Rochefort 8.
