I know for a fact that the local Churches in the areas of the
families that need help for Christmas are more than willing
to step up and help. There is a scripture in Matthew Chapter 7
that says "Ask and you shall receive, seek and you will find, knock and the door will be opened to you." Ask, seek and knock
and you will find people more than willing to help.
If you don't prefer Churches, there is always the Salvation Army, St. Vincent de Paul and Pacific Garden Mission. The City of Chicago also has a help line that gives information on any subject...just call City Hall.

Salvation Army, Crosslines, Toys for Tots, Shop with a Cop and a Trucker (yes it's real, and I'm not saying which I am, ha ha), Soul's Harbor, United Way, many churches, radio and TV stations, friends and family. these are just a few and by no means a complete list.

Many places for help. What do you mean by needed families?
If you are in real need then most likely you are already on some list. If not then start finding them in your area and make yourself known.
If you are in real need then do not expect someone to just notice you and give to you. You have to do your part to get something.

People standing on the street corner.
Orphan homes.
The veterans hospital,
the children's hospital,
good will,
K-Mart
Just to name a few.

There are many, but they cannot reach all poor people in the world. How can they trust that those being introduced on the Internet are poorer than naked and starved people on Sahara desert?
