My personal favourite is mulled wine.
You take a few whole anise, a cinnamon stick or two, whole cloves and large pieces of orange zest and tie them up in cheesecloth (or in a paper coffee filter) pour some good red wine in a sauce pan and put the spice bundle (also called a bouquet garni) in the wine and simmer it for about 10 to 20 minutes. Remove the bouquet garni, add sugar to taste and stir until it's dissolved and serve hot in mugs.
It's delicious and makes the house smell wonderful.

I think that Kir Royale is an elegant holiday cocktail. Fill a champagne flute with champagne or a dry sparking wine and top if off with cassis (black currant flavored liqueur).

I've been on a buttered rum kick. It is nice, you just buy the mix and it taste like a delicious warm xmas cookie. If you have the non-drinking friends, you can just make it without the liquor. For the drinkin friends, dark meyer's is nice, but so is bourbon. And please, do yourself a favor, and just get a nice mix rather than trying to make it from scratch while you entertain!

Something involving cranberry juice is Christmas-y. Try it with vodka, vodka and grapefruit, vodka and 7-Up, etc.

Snowballs.
Mix advocaat (Bols or Warninks), lemonade and lime juice to taste. Sweet and not too deadly.
