If Jesus did not sacrifice himself, and be crucified, would there be more Christians or not? I would say less. That is because instead of killing Jesus, they would kill his followers most likely.

Millions upon millions would not have been tortured and killed for not believing in him

Jesus did not die for his people. He died in the hands of his people. There are two kinds of people in his life who caused his death. The Jews for not being there as the true Messiah who blasphemed their God. The Roman who took advantage of the Jews' hates against Jesus because they thought he will be a trouble to the Empire's control of the province.
If Jesus was not killed, maybe another Jewish martyr could have been chosen by the Romans against dissent of the Jewish community. The Jews were silent for the first time when Constantine decreed to make Christianity or followers of Christ the Offical religion of Rome. Later,The original Judeao-Christian Orthodox have to breakaway from Roman rule thus creating a purely Roman Catholic Church who made several changes in the Old Testament's Law and adding the trinity and the virgin birth story that created the Queen of Heaven.

It seems logical that there would be less. I can't speak for what didn't occur. But it may be that if the Israelites truly followed Christ and proclaimed him King, he would have been the King, and not been crucified. It seems to me like the crucifixion was plan B, or plan A. The reason I say this is that God spoke many times through the prophets and said "If you do not repent this will happen..". In this particular case it seems like John the Babtist was preparing the people for the coming of Christ the King, and if they had repented rather than rejecting Him he would have been King. But he was rejected, so the plan of salvation through Christ happened. The Gospel was accepted by Jews at first, but later Gentiles became what we know as Christians. So if that hadn't happened, it seems like there would be no such thing as Gentile Christians.

It is an interesting thought. Being that Jesus was the only perfect sacrifice for our sins, we would probably be seeing allot of animal sacrifices like in the old testament. People would still be getting stoned to death for adultery and homosexuality instead of getting forgiveness through our Savior Christ Jesus. There would not really be any Christians if Jesus did not die because that would mean He had not come to die for us like it was prophesied in the old testament.

If Jesus hadn't come yet, or been crucified for our sins, we would still be under the old law. The old testament. Bound by traditions, and sacrifice. We would go to Abraham's bosum instead of heaven, waiting for Jesus to come and preach and set the captives free.

Meh. Assuming that Jesus actually was a person. It would be the same. Plenty of people died on a cross before and after Jesus. Because that's what the Roman's did; Crucified criminals. They were big on law an order.

All those who need a crutch would have found some other religion to latch all their hopes onto. There were plenty of self appointed prophets back then.

I'm pretty sure that the killing part is essential to the Christianity part. According to Christianity, Yeshua's "sacrifice" is what made Christians saved from sin. So...no death, no Christians.

If Jesus did not die for his people Satan would still be ruling this world. For Jesus was crucified for our sins.

It is important to know 'WHY' he died for us.
When Adam and Eve were created, detailed in the book of Genesis, there was no mention of them EVER HAVING TO DIE.
Death was the result of them sinning...disobeying God's command about the 'tree'
Before that, it was god's purpose for them to be without death...to live forever.
Adam and Eve lost that right. Then God supplied his own son, also perfect like Adam, to pay a 'ranson sacrifice' to regain that lost quality...to live without death.
And after Armageddon, the 'righteous', those implicitly obeying God...will

(Psalm 37:9) For evildoers themselves will be cut off, But those hoping in Jehovah are the ones that will possess the earth.

(Psalm 37:11) But the meek ones themselves will possess the earth, And they will indeed find their exquisite delight in the abundance of peace.

(Psalm 37:29) The righteous themselves will possess the earth, And they will reside forever upon it.
