I feel very tense when I sit down at school (I'm in 8th grade) I can feel my shoulders getting tense, and my neck. I feel very excited, like Billie Joe Armstrong is about to perform Good Riddance right in front of me.
I have tried everything, getting it massaged out, hot bath with that special salt, heating pads, taking deep breathes, EVERYTHING in the book.
I'm not nervous scared or excited about school. To me its same-old-same-old, and nothing to be happy about.
I'm only 14, does this matter?

Ask your parents to go see a chiropractor. It works great for loosening up necks and shoulders. Also, ice will help get the inflammation down, not heat. Heat feels great at the time but a couple hours later it feels worse.

You may have too many pillows but, aside from that you possibly have the habit of many young ladies starting to show signs of development... trying to hide that fact causes you to slouch a bit.. making the muscles of the back and neck work extra hard..is the reason good posture is so important.. the muscles don't have to work as hard to keep you upright.

Your first poster gave good advice..follow it.You will be happy you did. As well, you will save yourself a lot of problems down the road.

I presume that you have tried serveral exercise but only did it over short period of time? Try to do loosening up exercise in the morning, and prior to sleeping... regularly.

Go see a physio to get PROPER help. Yoga helps, provided you practise it constantly.

If you feel really tight, take paracetmol, to easy the pain (depending on your tolerence level try at about 500mg).

ICE and heat treatment helps, but you got to alternate between them.

Hope this helps.

This can happen if you sleep on your stomach. This a common sleeping position and it puts a lot of strain on your neck and at such a young age this may be the cause. If it is then try to alter your sleep position to your back or side.

you are extremely tense.
Meditate on good things and beautiful places...carry pictures of good memories with you. rub the web between your thumb and forfinger for 2 minutes until it hurts.....then roll your hands across a pensil on your desk...put your fingers on your temples...rub them frontways ..then backways.....sit up straight and take deep breaths....put thumbs on eyebrows and push...roll your head a few times to left..then right.
These are tension relievers
