Just blow drying your hair will make it look poofy. Bend forward so your hair is upside down and dry pointing upwards toward your scalp. To prevent poofiness, brush or pick (whichever works best for you) your hair. Do that for a couple minutes, flip your hair back up, and brush your hair (preferably with a round brush, curling under, starting from the roots). Repeat until your hair is dry.

get your hair cut in layers, blow dry it with your head upside down, spray with hairspray before you flip your hair back. You could also try teasing your hair a little at the root but do it under the first layer so the outside is smooth.

Get long layers, it will make your hair look full and thick if not try a volumizing cream or spray.

you should try rolling your hair while wet and use a special spray to thicken hair and when your hair is dry take out the rollers and comb it out. Also getting layer would add to the affect.
