You put in the damn product key...is this a trick question?

That is to ensure that your copy of Microsoft Word is legitimate and not a copy or bootleg, so all you have to do is type in the product key code off the packaging your CD came in and it shoud register you as a legal user and then the window should stop popping up. If your CD is a bootleg or copy, you cant do anything about it till you put in that code, so get the code off whoever you got your copy from. Microsoft has been doing this for awhile now to keep from getting ripped off by bootleggers of their products.

See if you have a "Certificate of Authenticity" sticker on the side of your computer. If you ordered it from a reputable dealer (Dell, Gateway, etc) it should be there. Try the product key on that sticker. Otherwise, MS Word may have been loaded to your PC as a trial and you need to actually purchase it. I won't even go down the road about if you are using a pirated copy.

When you bought Microsoft Word, it came with a box. The product key is on the box. The info you got with the software said to "keep the Product Key.
You can't use the Microsoft Product until you type the Product Key from the box.
