I've tried the ear flick with no success (was told this is how mother cats discipline their young) I've tried a squirt gun and 5 minutes later he's back gnawing on the branches. I've had cats my entire life and have never had this problem before. I already wire the darn tree to the wall so they can't knock it down and I only decorate the top half-it looks stupid but it's better than stepping on broken glass from them playing with the bulbs. I thought about spraying the entire tree with pepper spray but I don't want to make him sick (not that eating fake tree needles is healthy) Can anyone help me with this please????

Cats like to chew on plastic because it tastes sweet to them. Spray your tree with something your cat won't like the taste of. (Soap, hot sauce, vinegar....mixed with water to make a spray.) You don't have to spray the whole tree just the bottom branches.

Tie some jingle bells on the branches and once you hear them ringing, squirt her with a water spray bottle. After she gets squirted once or twice, merely squeeze the spray bottle and she or he will stop. found out this little trick after my cat pulled a extensive tree over on the floor, breaking glass embellishes and making a poor mess. Jingle bells additionally works with infants. no longer positioned up a tree yet bear in mind how humorous it exchange into. i've got used organic and organic orange oil to repel spraying cats from my front door and patio, they hate the stuff. The pretend Christmas timber made be made up of a plastic that use meat-fat as a base. there are one in each and every of those things including electronics and a few electric powered wires that pets like to bite through scent in the plastics.

I would regularly suggest the squirt bottle. But, since you have tried it, then spray a citrus smell around and on the tree. Cats hate it!

I would try some of the products out there that deter cats and dogs from chewing on things. You can find them at either the pet store or even the local grocery store, (but with less of a selection). Good luck
