Without Wal-Mart, internet, air-conditioning, TV, I'm sure they lived a rather awesome lifestyle, like... well, you don't hear of the overweight Viking on Leif Erickson's ship that landed in America, do ya? They were healthier, didn't worry about split-ended hair, they definitely never argued over who won the superbowl... and their food had to have been awesome-tasting. Plus, they had knowledge of smoking meat and salting it to last longer when they put it under ice, like the modern-day beef jerky that we have.
