Run with ankle waits on your ankles. This will get you used to the heaviness of the weights and will also build muscle so that when you run without them on, you will feel lighter and run faster due to the feeling of lightness and the gained muscle.

Its a very short time, but I would run the distance of the race at least 3-4 times before the race if anything to get used to the distance, which should help you run faster because you are mentally used to it.

well one thing u definately need is patience cos 1 & a half weeks is nothing!
u need 2 do weights sessions with few reps & heavy weights
as u progress move on to dynamic exercises like cleans
do running sessions on a track fast with short reps & long recovery eg. 6x60m flat out with walk back recovery
stretch lots
eat plenty of protein, carbs & low fat food
sleep lots

however, i shd stress that this may take longer than u want!

faster than you are at this moment? easy. Train more, do more quality practices, work on your starts, acceleration phase, and your technique.
Faster than Asafa Powell or anyone in the top 10 in the world/in the Olympics in 1 and a half weeks? No chance, unless there's a rocket up your b*tt kinda painful and dangerous, or you are on a scooter in a car, on roller baldes etc

This is not a lot of time in the big scheme of things. I think anything you do at this point won't improve your speed. I would continue on your current running schedule and set a more realistic goal.

You need to do intervals. Run shorter distances say 200m to 400m at a pace faster than your expected time and rest inbetween the intervals. This allows your body to run fast, but still recover since you can't maintain a fast pace all the time.

OMG I CANT BELIEVE YOU ASKED THAT QUESTION! You may not wanna take it from me but i did this myself and i came in second in a marathon at my high school up against some pretty fast runners. I was running like 10th before this...

You will have to get some penny weights, like maybe 5 pounds, but not dumbells, more like sand balls or pressure balls etc. I got a black one at Sports authoiry. Put one on each limb of your body *hands, feet*. also put 2 around your waist (not necesary) maybe in your pockets. This is flexing your muscles, and works well. Wear it for even one day and you will feel like you need them back because you are so light. Try it. ~Best answer

P.S. You need them while you sleep too, you dont want to expose your body to this lightness at night, or it will massivley *MASSIVLEY* weaken you. Play catch with a 5 pound ball, then pick up a tv remote...not imaging that but on a 6 ball scale throughout ur body...GOOD LUCK!

Trust me nobody else here speaks from exerience
