I made some delicious pasta w/ marina sauce and ground beef this afternoon. I forgot to put it in the refrigerator when I left for work. Is it safe to eat now? I left it at 1pm today, and am just getting home (10pm eastern time).

Don't worry. It is safe. People would tell you no as a precautian but just heat it up with a bit of oil and it should be fine. It was freshly made and it was in a sauce so the sauce is what preserved it somewhat.

In the olden days, pots of food used to be kept in the pantry overnight!

My only concern is that some roaches did not get to it before you did!

Please tell us if you ate it or not.

I would recommend NOT eating the pasta. Bacteria flourishes between the temperatures 40-140 F. When you cooked the food, it stayed over 140 for around 10 minutes, after that, bacteria will grow at exponetial rates. (after 1 hour, 100 bacteria.....2 hours 10000, 3 hours= 1000000) Remember to keep Hot food Hot and cold foods Cold

ok up to about 1 day later, not more than that

make fresh pasta to put with the sauce any time you reheat pasta, costs like 20 cents and makes it taste good. Worth it. Throw away the old noodles unless you are VERY poor.

definite, that's going to be fantastic. Mayo does not pass undesirable because of the fact of a rapid heat-up like coming in touch with heat food. (If that replaced right into a undertaking, i might have died of Tuna-soften poisoning a protracted time in the past. lol.) What you do no longer choose is to place mayo on or in some thing, and then leave it OUT for a protracted volume of time. (rather in the solar.) that's what makes it pass undesirable.

I would, it has happen to me before, and it has been there for around 6 to 8 hours I come back home and reheat the whole thing for a couple minutes, add some water so it kinda boils and eat it all, I don't save it for the next day.

I have done it, but don't recommend it. Tomato sauce doesn't sit well while sitting out. I'm still here, but I was sitting in the little room for a while after eating mine. Your call.

the beef would be the biggest problem- it can cause you stomach problems later. There's also the fact that you don't know if something has fallen into it if it wasn't covered.

Why take a chance on food poisoning. Use this as a good lesson that when you make something that good, take it to work or put it in the frig.

I wouldn't eat it unless you heat it to almost a boil to kill bacteria. And even then it's kind of iffy.
