I would stay away from anything with garlic or onions...there is nothing romantic about bad breath or (excuse my frankness) a date with gas!! And don't do fish, either. You will just stink up the house. That said, I like the cornish game hens idea. And here are a few of my own...
CHICKEN WITH WINE AND HERBS
Ingredients:
1/2 broiler-fryer chicken
1/4 teaspoon basil
1/4 teaspoon paprika
1/8 teaspoon pepper
1/4 teaspoon oregano
1/2 cup dry white wine
1/4 teaspoon salt
Preparations:
Wash chicken and cut up. In small amount of oil, brown chicken pieces on all sides. Pour off excess oil. Add wine and seasonings. Cover and simmer for 30 to 40 minutes or until chicken is tender. Serve with brown rice.
Serves 2
OR...
TENDERLOIN STEAKS WITH HERBED CHEESE TOPPING
Ingredients:
4 beef tenderloin steaks, cut 1 inch thick
2 tablespoons cream cheese, softened
4 teaspoons crumbled blue cheese
4 teaspoons plain lowfat yogurt
dash white pepper
1/2 teaspoon salt, divided
2 teaspoons chopped parsley
Preparations:
Combine cream cheese, blue cheese, yogurt, and pepper; reserve. Place steaks on rack in broiler pan so surface of meat is 2 to 3 inches from heat. Broil 5 to 6 minutes. Season with salt. Turn and broil 3 to 4 minutes. Season with remaining salt. Top each steak with an equal amount of reserved cheese mixture. Broil an additional 1 to 2 minutes. Garnish with parsley. Serve with baked or mashed potatoes.
Recipe may also be prepared using 1 pound beef top loin steaks cut 3/4 inch thick.
Serves 2
AND FOR DESSERT...
CHOCOLATE COVERED STRAWBERRIES
Ingredients:
5 ounces bittersweet chocolate, chopped
1 pint fresh strawberries with leaves
Preparations:
In a microwave safe bowl, or in the top of a double boiler over simmering water, cook chocolate until melted. Stir occasionally until chocolate is smooth. Holding berries by the stem, dip each in chocolate about three-quarters of the way to the stem. Place, stem side down, on wire rack and chill in refrigerator until hardened.

Roasted Vegetable Tartlets
Ingredients
1 red pepper
1 yellow/orange pepper
1 courgette
1 onion
5 cloves of garlic
1 packet puff pastry or filo pastry
sun-dried tomato paste
olive oil
Cut the vegetables into large chunks and put into a roasting dish. Put the cloves of garlic in with their skin on. Drizzle with olive oil and mix with hands until every piece is covered in oil. Roast in the oven for 20-30 minutes until golden brown.
Meanwhile if using puff pastry cut out rounds from the pastry using a pastry cutter, if using filo pasty I like to just shape pieces roughly into round shaps to make it look more rustic. Place on a greased tray and spread each with sun-dried tomato paste. Once the vegetables have cooked leave to cool slightly and then finely chop. The garlic should be able to be pressed out of the skin and after discarding the skins mix the garlic in with the rest of the vegetables. Then spoon the vegetable mixture onto the tartlets leaving a small rim around the edge of each one. These can be kept in the fridge until 20 minutes before serving. Brush with oil and put them in the oven for 20 minutes if puff pastry or 5 minutes for filo pastry or until risen and brown.

Bake potatoes at 400* for 1 hour or until tender. Cut a thin slice off the top of each potato and discard. Scoop out pulp, leaving a thin shell. In a small mixing bowl, mash pulp; set aside.
