I guess it is just a preference. The only people I know who name their children Jesus (Hay-suse) are of the Mexican culture. I think it is a beautiful name and I like to hear it pronounced in Spanish.
Of course, Levon named his child Jesus, and he wanted to go to Venus. Levon sold cartoon balloons all day.
Seriously, I really don't know except that it is thought of as a Holy name. Maybe no one wants to put that responsiblity on a child.
I have also noted that nobody I know or have ever heard of is named Judas. So, oh well, I guess it goes back to preference again.
Good thought though.

You can have whatever name your parents choose to give you! You can also name your kids whatever you want, including Jesus!! You don't see it alot because the name Jesus can really offend some people because they automatically think of Jesus Christ! I would never name my kid Jesus because of what people might think of me or him in a bad sence! Like he thinks he's better than everyone else or he's a fake or who knows people are crazy! I think to be named Jesus after Jesus Christ would be an honor because as a Christians we are to be christ "like" and to be named after the one and only person that has, is, or will ever walk this Earth that never ever commited one single sin!!!!! So no matter what your name is your actions could never measure up to Christ's! Also if every one walked around with the name Jesus we would forget how wonderful he was and what he stood for because we would think of the person we personally know as Jesus!

Seems kind of disrespectful to me. I mean a poker player named Jesus, that's just not right. So if you have a baby boy and name him Jesus, what would his life be like? Can you imagine the pressure?

Well, in Islam the Arabic name for Jesus was Isa (ee-sa). I know several people with that name. There is nothing wrong with it. It's another Prophet's name just like David, Solomon, Moses, Abraham, etc.

I was always under the impression that "hay-suse" was the pronounciation that spanish folk used for those named Jesus, or Jesus himself, as they pronounce their "J"s as "H"s. Usually anyway.

I think it's out of respect as well. Please note that in many spanish speaking countries, Christ the Lord is referred to as 'El Senor' (which is kind of weird as it means the Mister- unless ' senor' means 'lord'). Jesus Crist is said as 'Jesu Cristo'. So the Jesus name isn't really sacrilege.

Well Jesus wasn't the actual name of the son of God, it was Yashua, which would more closely translate to Joshua....why wouldn't you be able to have the name Jesus?

You are only talking about a Latin pronunciation, anybody can be
named Jesus, it's just not normally done in English speaking nations.

You could do it but I would not want to do that to my child. It is a respect issue for me. I hold God's name with honor.
