Maybe from sun damage due to lack of melanin? I'm not really sure. I've always wondered though. And I think people with an African heritage age beautifully. I know I'll be jealous when I'm an old, wrinkly, sun damaged woman!

I haven't noticed any sort of time warp around me, so I assume that we are all aging at the same rate. Day by day.
If your trying to say caucasions show their age more than african americans. You could be right, haven't given it much thought. But then I've been told, "Your what? 35?" when I'm 48. Makes me feel good but the reason for it, don't know.

There are a lot of factors that contribute to how someone ages- but the degree of melanin in the skin is one of them. Darker skinned people have more natural protection from the sun, so have a bit of an edge when it comes to external signs of aging. Light skinned people who are in the sun a lot and don't use sunscreen to make up for this will develop wrinkles much faster than a dark skined person, or a sunscreen wearer.

No.
We don't age faster than any kind of Africans. Our skin is affected by the sun easier.

I wonder this sometimes. I'll meet an African-American woman and her grown daughter and you can't tell which is which! The men are the same unless they have gray hair. Wish I had great genes like that!

I would say yes. I see african canadians who look like twenty years younger then they are alot. It blows me away. They have excellent skin that stays smooth and wrinkle free until they hit 70 it seems and I want to know thier secret aahhhhrrrggg.

If aging is a matter of physical attributes, then the answer is yes!
But overall, all humans age the same way. As we get older, our physiological functions decline, our bodies change, we get wiser, and physical stamina decreases.
So, regardless of your ethnicity you are going to get older. To get older and be healthy requires a lot of hard work now and self care.
Exercise, eat well, drink a lot of water, and get plenty of sleep. Avoid alcohol and smoking and get regular check ups.

Their skin seems to. African American skin is thicker and has more melanin - so it has a tendency to show fewer wrinkles and sun damage. However - African-American hair is actually more fragile - so it breaks easier -- so it's a toss-up.

It seems that way doesn't it? My darker relatives certainly look more youthful then my lighter ones. Some one should do a study on this.
