I prefer metal or glass. Plastic has a tendency to absorb and retain other odors and flavors. Many people say the same about metal bowls but I have never found that true.
A plastic bowl is best when you want to keep a temperature consistent as the glass and the metal allow the heat to "escape."
I've never seen or heard of a professional cook/chef using plastic

Actually yes it does if your cooking in it. Metal and glass heat differently from let's say Stoneware. Stones heat the same time as your food as well as steam it and the metal and glass actually heat the food and may dry it out. Stones dont have any hot spots, they heat up all over, the food will cook evenly, you never have to turn your food and you get great results every time.
If your just stirring the ingredients together then it does not affect the cooking process.

I am assuming that you are not talking about a mixing bowl but instead about the pan you will be baking in.You have to extend the cooking time for a non-metallic pan. For example look on a box of cake mix and see the difference in instructions there.

Sure it does.
Just try putting anything acidic (tomatoes, lemon juice, fruits) in cast iron and
you'll see. Aluminum is also reactive. Anything
that goes wonky when you wash it in the dishwasher can lend you wonky food if you don't
treat it right. Know how aluminum discolors in
the dishwasher?
Whipping up egg whites works better in glass
and copper.
Some surfaces are easier to clean and don't
react with foods, so they don't affect the taste
of the foods prepared in them. Stainless steel
and glass are the best from this perspective.
Some surfaces are just rougher at a small
scale and change the way heat is imparted to the food.
Other surfaces retain water or oils and lend them to
the foods prepared in them.
some things are cooked straight on the coals.

I think it does. I would rathier use a plastic or glass bowl. metal bowls ofen leave a nasty taste in the food.

It can alter the taste of the food as well as affect the results if you're heating things up. If I were you, I would stick to glass bowls.

i have been told sence i was young that metal sometimes reacts with certiant ingrediants and my family never uses them or a metal spoon to mix it. this maybe an old myth but every myth has some truth behind it

aluminum and tomato sauce is not good
also two kinds of metal, like steel and aluminum foil makes a battery if the food is acidic
