the God who is supposed to forgive you can actually get hurt? If you think about it, you can only forgive someone who hurt you and if he/she done a deed that did not hurt you in any way then you have no need for forgiving them. If God forgives then God can be hurt but isn't God already too divine to be damaged? If God can be hurt then He is not God.

To Captain Moe: If we went against his orders then where does free will play a role? It is either free will or complete manipulation there is no varying degrees.

I believe it is humans who invented pain and destruction and sorrow and grief and I don't think God can get hurt. God is too divine to be defeat by emotions. And if God is the created of EVERYTHING then He must have created emotions so why is he so vulnerable to them?

Why don't you ask a question you really want answered? Looks like you just want an argument.

God cannot be hurt or damaged as you put it...He sits waiting for his word to be accomplished...He already knows the outcome..to think he could be hurt implies he didn't know something would happen ...it is a sign of carnal shallow thinking..

the need for forgiveness is understood in a basic court of law ...do the crime pay the fine or do the time...simple ..God gave man a commandment ...man broke the law..the need for justice for the crime committed...causes God to require a sin sacrifice..blood (life) the bible says without the shedding of blood is no remission of sin..Jesus came to be a once and for all sin sacrifice...God forgives not because he is hurt but because a man layed down his life for you...and paid the price for you and me...think maybe you can be grateful ...instead of just looking for excuses..???

Oh
Eugene, why do you think God isn't God if He can be hurt. Don't you know how much He hurt when His beloved son was made to be sin for all mankind-He did not sin, but He took all the vile sins of this world into Himself in ways we cannot comprehend-and the Father who loved His only begotten son, was grieved beyond measure as Christ agonized on calvary, not so much from the nails that all so called criminals endured unto death, but that Jesus took our sins into Himself in a literal way.

God cannot look on sin and had to turn away from His son at which time Christ cried out in agony of spirit, "My God,my God, why hast thou foresaken me?"-isn't that awesome-isn't that a solace when we do the very same things in grievious trials-feel He has abandaned us-yet God says He will never leave us or foresake us_actually we turn away from HIm. God is not emotionless-I would not want to love and ser ve a God like that.
He loves with everlasting love and we are to forgive one another or He says He will not forgive us.

Who said God doesn't get hurt? Of course He does. Like a father whose children betray Him, God does get hurt. Is there a rule book your quoting about divine being not being hurt? Your whole question is lost with that assumption. Jesus was man but also divine and he certainlly got "hurt". So your conclusion is based on a misguided assumption.

The ability to be hurt emotionally is not the same thing as weakness or defeat. If you were unable to be hurt emotionally, you would be emotionally dead. Since God’s capacity for love is infinitely greater than anything we can feel, he must also be capable of being hurt greatly.

that is truly idiodic, The bible even says God cries. God cannot be hurt physically but He can be touched emotionally. He is moved by faith, love and obedience. There are several scriptures in the bible that say God was moved by compassion and turned away his wrath.
Forgiving someone doesn't mean that you have to physically or even emotionally hurt them, it means that you have just done something they may or may not like. quit grabbing for straws and ask an intelligent question.
'
God can be hurt (only emotionally) His compassion runs deeper than any river can run. and His love is more than you could ever imagine.

God is God, even if he can be hurt. He can be hurt because he sent his only son to die for us in the hope that we will all be saved.. it may hurt God to know that his children(whom he created in his image) will not be saved. If you want the best for your children, and they will not listen to you, for instance: Telling your children to look both ways before they cross the street. And your child repeatedly looks only one way before crossing. You know in your heart that this act will sooner or later cause serious injury or death to your child. Does it not hurt that you have asked your child to follow a simple rule for HIS/HER own good, yet they refuse to do so??? And it also hurts you to know that as much as you love your child, and you want them to know that your rules are for their safety and LONG LIFE, your child continually challenges your rules. And at some point, all you can do is watch helplessly everytime they cross that street......

I think we repent and ask forgiveness as a result of belief given to us, not as a condition for salvation. And, we have offended God's standards, not hurt his feelings. Forgiveness itself comes from the penalty that his Son paid for us, not anything that we can do to "earn" any merits toward heaven.

If we are made in the image of God and we can be hurt than of course God can be hurt. Do you know how many times he was within inches of destroying all of man kind? Not only can he be hurt he can get mad. Also when Jeus was baptized he he was pleased. God has feelings.

Yes God can get hurt, it is Thov's thinking that God gave us all the emotions he has, including Pain. and when we go against his law it hurts his feelings.

Not true. God LOVED us so much that He gave us free will to love Him back. Then He sent His Son so we could have our sins lifted BY Love.
How sad it would make God to know that He loves and is not loved in return by even one person. Each one of us is precious to Him.
I think His hurting just shows us that He has a Heart that is full to overflowing with how much He loves us and is longing to be loved in return.
He is God, I am proud to be His child.
God Bless
