You are wise to ask this question. And Jesus wants you to have the answer you seek. So when others asked Him this question, He answered them this way:
John 7:17-18
17 If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself.
18 He that speaketh of himself seeketh his own glory: but he that seeketh his glory that sent him, the same is true, and no unrighteousness is in him.
KJV
So, according to Jesus, the only way to find out if His teaching really comes from God, is to do what He says. We must obey his commands. The answer will become obvious to those who are willing to do so. I feel this is a reasonable challenge. It means we must prove our sincerity by investing ourselves in the answer we seek. And He promised us, "Seek and ye shall find." We have nothing to lose by doing this, and everything to gain. I have found His words to be true and most trustworthy. It is my prayer that we all find our way to Heaven and find eternal peace with our Father there. I will remember you in my prayers.

Jesus Christ was the most documented person in history. The stories of Jesus' life, death, and ressurection are recorded in many documents outside the Bible. There were well over 100 prophecies about the coming Messiah, and all the prophecies came true in the man called Jesus Christ. Up until the Dead Sea Scrolls were discovered, the earliest documents of the Old Testament were about 1000 A.D., which still left the question of the authenticity of the prophecies about the Messiah. However, the Dead Sea Scrolls were dated between 100 - 150 B.C., and there where almost NO descrepencies in the entire book of Isaiah, which is were many of the prophecies where written. So now, there is proof that, not only did Jesus fulfill the prophecies of Isaiah, but the translation of Isaiah from 100 B.C. to now is virtually perfect. The Bible, unlike the popular argument on this web site, has not been rewritten many times over 1000's of years, but is still very much the same now as the original manuscripts.
Let me suggest few books that will help you know beyond a doubt that your belief in Jesus Christ as your Saviour and Lord is backed up by much historical evidence.
The first book is a short, easy read. It is called "More Than A Carpenter" by Josh McDowell.
The second book is called "The New Evidence That Demands A Verdict" by Josh McDowell. Before Josh became a Christian, he was an athiest who was set on proving the Christians were irrational and illogical. Trying to prove Christians wrong, Josh found the evidence for Christ to be overwhelming, and became a Christian himself. This is more like a huge reference book, with tons of facts about the archeology, writings, and history that give clear evidence for the Christian faith.
The third book is called "Mere Christianity" by C.S. Lewis. This is a fairly old book, but has some really good insight into the Christian faith.
There are many other great books available on the topic, but these can get you started.
Don't give up hope. You really don't have to check your brain in at the door to be a Christian.

Because the bible is the most amazing people of ancient literature around. It stands on its own, and is the best selling book of all time. Nothing compares to it. The bible talks about a relationship with God almighty, and the religion it describes is Christianity. Of course everyone believes they are right. However, not everyone double checks why they believe, what they believe. This is not a smart move to make on such a serious issue. Whatever your religion, test it to the max, test the leaders of the religion, test the ancient texts. Some fail the truth test so fast, its hard to believe anyone believes in it. Put it this way, the true God, and the true religion, will be absolute truth. Search it out, and you will find it, guaranteed. Only, you MUST be intellectually honest with yourself, and not afraid to face the truth. Remember, the truth will set you free.

I know it is very hard if you listen to the world, you must study diligently to learn for yourself.
First, a pastor is not a preacher. If that is what you are referring too when you say
christian pastors.
Ephesians 4:11
And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;
Timothy 2:15
Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
I am a member of the Church of Christ. If you would like to study with me I will be more than glad to study with you. Warning; I go only by the scripture and not what I think or how I feel. Just the Scripture.

Its the way how God starts working in your life once you entrust your life to him.. Even if everything goes wrong, you would always have the peace and hope that God is gonna make things right, The peace which surpasses all understanding does guard our hearts and minds, God promises come alive to us through the bible, We learn to love God and to trust him even in our deepest troubles, Those who love God do not get spiteful to him even amidst worst circumstances. His grace sustains always sustains us. All these are because God is very much real for a true christian than people of any other religion, God is number one in their lives, others mostly worship the God of their belly.
Then the Bible is the only book which has so many prophecies out of which nothing has gone wrong yet, other religions have much lesser prophecies and none of them have been effected as of yet. Many of the Historical proofs agree that men of the Bible lived and even Exodus also has so many historical proofs.
Well, I guess these are a few of the things..

You can have 5 different people read the same passage in the Bible and get 5 different interpretations. Religions can disagree on the minor details as long as they agree on the major one...that Jesus Christ is our Lord and Saviour and all we have to do is ask him to come into our hearts and save us from our sins. If the religion is based on that then their beliefs are correct. I was brought up Baptist but I have attended Pentecostal,Holiness and non-denominational churches. Baptists believe "once saved always saved' where Holiness believe you can't just get saved then sin and do what you want and still go to heaven. Pentecostals think that Saturday is the Sabbath instead of Sunday. But while they diagree on those issues, they all worship Jesus Christ so they all agree on the most important belief.

Ask God for the answer to this, if you read your bible and you see how God has said you as a christian are to be, it you are following that, then it doesn't matter what religion as long as your walking the way you should according to Romans 12,13 and 14. Read those chapters and if you are there or walking in that direction, pray for deliverance from what ever is not of God; as written, forget religion. I believe religion is only for leadership, Jesus didn't have a religion, He was the church and His leadership was from God, so we need to really focus on God and the Word and not what religion says. That's where a lot of people miss God's blessings, the ones who get lost in religion, instead of lost in the Lord. No matter what religion, when it comes down to it we all worship one God and that is the creator of heaven and earth, the alpha and the omega, the beginning and the end.

You cant really say who's right, because everyone believes in differnet things and Gods, such as some people dont believe in God. Actual I'd say that they're all correct, like Christians believe that things in the bible actually happened, and Buddist? Im not so sure since Im only Christian. But I think that were all from the same God. Call me crazy but thats what I believe. Like in a way we are all related in some bizarre way.

If you think about it, all religions have things in common. Yet, in Christianity, one finds fulfillment and the Bible is basically the testimony of those who knew God and also God's guidebook to mankind. Now, people who have not heard of Christ are saved since God knows that they know not of Christ, so if they are a good Hindu or a good Shaman or whatnot, they will go to heaven since that is all they have been known to know and have followed to their extent their own law.

2 Timothy chapter 3:16-17 (New Century Version)
All Scripture is given by God and is useful for teaching, for showing people what is wrong in their lives, for correcting faults, and for teaching how to live right. Using the scriptures, the person who services God will be capable, having all that is needed to do every good work.
