I love fruit cake but it is way too expensive. I prefer my fruitcake to have more nuts and have alcohol. I don't like too much of the candied cherries. I like the other candied fruit. The green thing is usually candied pineapple with food colouring but maraschino cherries can also be candied green. I like the spices too. The longer it aged, the better- because of the rum or brandy. I once saw a show that showed how the World's suppliers of fruitcakes come from Atlantic City or Georgia or something like that I am not from the USA sorry. I saw it on a show.

Fruitcake is delicious and I could eat it all little by little with coffee or tea. I love the density of it.

Fruitcake is also a popular choice for wedding cake.

The only fruit cake I like is made by TastyKake, in Philadelphia, PA.

It's moist, and you can taste the spices and fruits. I don't remember the green ball things in their cakes.

When I was younger, we had a fruitcake in the kitchen cabinet for about 10 years. I was going to a college party and Mom insisted that I don't go empty handed. I took the fruitcake. Several years later, I went to a Kwaanza celebration at a high school friend's house. That fruitcake was under the tree.

I love fruit cake, I really do. Usually I go for the ones without the green stuff....candied orange peel, currants, rum....delicious. People need to give fruitcake a chance.

Yes, I buy the ones in box's, that are imported from Italy. Those are delicious and the green things and red things in it are dried or candied fruits and nuts that are soaked in brandy or rum

I think the green things are candied mints.

I've eaten one fruitcake that I liked, it was home made. Sometimes the spices aren't right in the storebought ones.

Yes, the different colored fruit, are citrus pieces and you buy them from the store that way.

I only liked my mother's recipe from Hawaii - Navy Wives Club - and it had walnut inside, dark brown molasses, brown sugar, citrus pieces, flour - whole wheat, eggs and pecan halves on the top with marichino cherries.
...........It was the best...unfortunately she passed in 2002, and stopped about 5 years before....I never got the recipe. She was 88, and her pizelles were also the best...and for that she used the special pour flour - Wondra,...and she got her anizette for the pizelles from the liquor store!.....no anizette flavoring for her!
