It depends on the denomination. But most marry. They learn a language, then go to a country and befriend the local people and live with them for usually 2 years before they begin to share the gospel with them. They teach people how to plant better crops, dig wells, raise animals, they teach people how to read and write, better hygiene, anything that can help the people. Many parts of the world never see electric lights, running water, toilet paper, ice and so on. Once the people can trust you and communicate with you, then the missionary begins to try to tell them about Jesus.
Some denominations require masters degrees, others don't. Baptist missionarires are on a salery, others may have to raise all their money by speaking at churches that will have them . It is a rough life. No toilets, no A/C, or lights. I suggest you learn all you can about it before you consider it. If God has not called you to the mission field-you better not go.

The term missionary is very broad and really just means helping people. Missionaries that travel abroad usually help to set up (sometimes literally build) schools, churches and hospitals in places where there aren't any. They often live there for several months or several years, getting to know the people, teaching in the schools and working in the hospitals. Missionaries usually don't make any money. They are basically provided with a place to stay and food and enough money to live on. Usually the funding for this comes from a church or health organization in a 1st world country (like the USA or many countries in Europe.) Another missionary option is working as a dean (head of a girls or boys dorm) at a school.

Missionaries go to different countries and help assist people in learning about God. Yes they do get married and I think you can look up some sites on yahoo for missionary work. I don't know any off the top of my head. Billy Graham web site may have some info..

sure lots of missionaries are married and have kids and everything. They usually travel to other countries sponsored by a church in their home country. They bring the gospel to those that would never hear it any other way. They also bring food and medicine to places in need.

The requirements are to be truely believing you have a calling from God to go where He sends you-(doors will open or close in that quest-He does not write it on the walls to read)-

If ytou go by your own decision, desire, emotions, etc. without His call and guidance, you will be in for unhappiness-your work will not be God blessed and will not bear the fruit it would had He called you to the mission field. Be aware satan can misguide you into thinking you should go here or there or minister in this nation and in the long run, he will lead you down the slippery slope of self-works, self-delusion, and in general -much unhappiness for satan hates God and seeks to keep us from His gift of salvation, or at best, bring us to lose our faith in God.

Missionaries deny self to follow Him and minsiter to the needy of mind, body and spirit. They share and live the love of Christ Jesus in thought, word and deed.

If you are church affiliated, they may have a mission program-either in foriegn fields or here at home as the U.S.A. has vital need of mission work in ghettos, in your own home town, etc.
Please seek God's will for your life if you are called to that wonderful service. While it can be a life of hardship (doing without all we take for granted to live in a country without clean water, etc. to be in the will of God is the most awesome experience ever!)
