Several family members on my dad side have had this problem, they all died young and are not here to ask what they did to solve it. I dont smoke or drink or use caffeine to have this problem like they did. There is nothing to blame the problem on. I've had the problem for years since about age 10.

Have you considered going to a sleep lab? Most cities have one or more. There is much more known about sleep now than even a decade ago. They can monitor your sleep, and find out what is going on, perhaps even address it, and your concerns.

The answer about hypoglycemia sounds pretty good and probably a thing you need to consider.
Consider too that you might be starting through menopause.
This too can cause sleepless nights.
Alot of things are affected by menopause.
Since going through it myself I sleep less as well and it is maddening. Seems like once I do have a night of good sleep, early in the morning the movings about of my neighbors start my dogs to bark or the phone rings (which rarely does anyother time).
It is usually a week of restless nights before I am so tired that I can't do anything but fall totally asleep to sleep for atleast 10hrs and even then I don't really feel rested.

Your problem is Hypoglycemia! Eat something rich in protein before you go to bed! Avoid simple carbohydrates before you sleep (like fruit or candy) and stick to complex carbs and protein. Peanut butter and crackers is a good example.

You should get a vacation. relax. don't get your mind preoccupied or stressed about work, school, friends, family, etc... See a doctor or get sleeping pills perhaps?
