God was created by man. In our minds we have made ourselves into omnipotent beings that can't not simply live and die. We have created a hereafter as a continuation of our spirits and the myths and stories about the various gods seek to explain how other things occurred. The Christian God created the earth, but so did other gods create the world. We created evil so that we could explain the need for good behavior (if you kill me, then you won't go to heaven) and for punishment, you will be damned for eternity in the fires of hell. We created symbols to remind us of Gods. We created the mysticism of religious leaders that are in close touch with god. We also created tributes to appease the various gods with sacrifices and tributes and we created fine temples to show our adoration of the gods.Religion and Science have been at odds over many centuries because as Science deals in facts, Religion deals in truth. A fact is something which can be repeatedly duplicated and proven but a truth is only by idea without substance. Science has a great deal of convincing evidence about the 'Big Bang' and of evolution but because it takes god out of the picture, the churches are against the very thought of it. If you see an accident, you can explain the truth...only as far as you understand the truth, but forensic evidence may show you to be wrong. Did you lie? No, but it was your interpretation of the event as you understood things. Religions are old, based on ideas that are thousands of years in the making. Pagans, Druids, the Bampo, Ancestral worship, Hinduism with its plethora of gods and goddesses, Buddhism, Muslim, Taoism, and the Christian sects are all efforts to create something for the future after mortal life. Is there something? Yes, I believe so, but in a different context than many believe. I believe that great men such as Jesus Christ, Siddharta Gautama, Mohammed and others were teachers to show the way towards a union with the universe. Almost all cultures share a belief in the hearafter but differ only in how it can be obtained, and created gods to show us.

What would be more plausible: 1) He has always been, or 2) He created Himself?
Anything creating itself would be, of course, impossible for the being would have to be in existence before he came into existence (some people actually believe this!). So it really narrows it down!
If god created another god, that would be a contradiction in terms, because a creation would not be a god. A creator creates creations!

The question that you ask has troubled theologians for thousands of years We are getting into deep waters here so bear with me. The Christian God "eternally exists" in three distinct persons, but yet there is only one God.
What does it mean to exist eternally? Really that is a bit of a play on words. To exist implies that time is involved; To be eternal implies that a being is outside of time and space. We cannot really comprehend what that means. For the Christian we have a God that we call a Tri-unity or Trinity. Each of these persons is no greater or less than any other person, but each have different functiions and responsibilities. One of these persons is called the "Father". He is the creator of the universe including life. He is also the sustainer of life. Without God the Father you and I would die in a moment. Now this member of the Trinity controlls time and space and life with all its meanings from outside time. He cannot have been created because he is outside time. The Father is never inside time.
Right in the very first chapters of the Bible we see that man was created in the image of "God". It also says that God walked with and talked with man. The person of God that works directly with man is called God the "Son". This member of the Trinity is also uncreated, but because he works directly with man, he had to enter into time and space. This person of the Trinity was there at the beginning of time, and was the first thing to be "created". Unlike the "Father" the "Son" "lives in time and space.
One of the things that God the Father gave to man was free will. If man did not have this free will he would be less than human. At some point in time, man rebelled against God. (We could get into the role of satan etc., but that would be a digression). This was no suprise to the Trinity. In fact in the third chapter of the first book of the Bible the Trinity declares how this rebellion will be eventually crushed. God the Son was given the responsability to crush the rebellion. In order to do this he took on the very form and nature of man. He became limited by time and space. He did crush the power of that rebellion by his death and ressurection. God the Son is still working directly with man to help him overcome the effects of the human rebellion. His teachings show us how to do this. Just as He was the first "Created" so too he will be the last "Uncreated".
The third person of the Trinity is called God the Holy Spirit. His responsibility is somewhat less defined than the other two persons. His role is to convict man of his rebellion, and then to lead man to a place of forgiveness. He bridges time and space with eternity. He is in both. He too is uncreated.
Each of the three Persons takes on both specific tasks, and also takes on limitations. God the Father and God the Holy Spirit, for example do not have a physical body. Perhaps the Holy Spirit did not have need to be part of the physical creation. Possibly God the Son and the Holy Spirit do not need to have foreknowledge. I could go on, but I hope that you get the point that an all powerful and an all knowing God still has given man the power of free will.
Since the power of man's rebellion has been crushed, you must now use that free will that you were given to decide if you want the effects of that rebellion to remain within you. God the Son has crushed the rebellion, and God the Holy Spirit is at work in your life. You now have a choice. Do you want to be forgiven by God the Father and enjoy the freedom that gives or not. The Holy Spirit is wooing you to the Father, the Son has paved the way for you to get there, and the Father loves you and welcomes you with open arms. That is the essence of the Good News that Christians have experienced.

Well, as a Christian, I go by what the Bible says. It's really hard for our minds to understand it. God was never created. He just is, was, and will be. Everlasting to everlasting. And we believe in God the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth. We believe in Jesus Christ His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried. He descended into hell. On the 3rd day he rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of God the Father Almighty. From there he will come to judge the living and the dead. We believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Christian Church, the Communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the Resurrection of the body, the life of the world to come, Amen!!!
Nothing is impossible with God!!!!

God is everything, you can see him everywhere. He is the beginning and end. He was not borne and he will never die. And remeber, you are His son. You can live ever as he does. There is a part of Him in YOU. Why do you ask? You do not that believe he exists, right? Ok, do not do evil and you will be saved even if you do not believe in HIM. He Loves you

Those who believe in god typically will claim that god has always existed, and always will exist. To some degree, this is begging the question.

HE ALWAYS HAS BEEN, THIS IS SOMETHING THAT WE DON'T KNOW WE JUST HAVE TO ACCEPT HIM BY FAITH. I HAVE WONDERED THE SAME THING AND I THINK, IF THEY ARE HONEST EVERY CHRISTIAN THAT EVER LIVED OR WILL EVER LIVE HAS ASKED THE SAME THING. I DON;T KNOW THE ANSWER TO THIS. JESUS WAS CONCEIVED BY THE HOLY SPIRT INTO THE VIRGIN MARY AND WAS ALL MAN AND ALL GOD . MAYBE IN THE AGES OF ENDLESS ETERNITY HE WILL GIVE US THE ANSWER.
