It is not that people are overly critical of christianity, it is just that the majority of the "religious" people who roam this site happen to be christians preaching their message often in a forceful way. I have never once met a forceful, fear inducing, judgmental follower of Judaism or Islam. Not yet have I seen on Yahoo! Answers a jew or a muslim condemning people to hell on this site or tearing someone down for having beliefs different than theirs. Now I'm sure they are out there, but I have yet to come across it.

If you are ever so angry about the apparent "attack" on Christians on this website, perhaps I can put your mind to ease. The same general criticisms I myself have about christianity are also very applicable to Judaism and Islam for the two and Christianity stem from the Book of Abraham. What I see to be the folly of the religions stemming from this book is the belief in a vengeful, angry, judgmental God. The criticism goes much deeper, but I believe the western conception of God is much too human-like to be an accurate description of the Divine.

I hope you feel better now that I have expanded the criticism to judaism and islam as well.

It appears to me that there are a lot more Christians and intellectual liberals on here than anything else. I think you would see a lot more arguments on here between the followers of Islam and the liberal intellectuals, if there were more Islamic adherents posting questions and answers. But there aren't. The Judaic religions do not proselytize. Hence, you don't see arguments between the "white, ultra liberal, intellectuals" and the Jews. It is not a tenet of the Jewish faith to convert anybody, and I think that the attempt to change someones mind is the "bait" that gets the intellectuals going. Of course, those are just my thoughts on the matter, and they could be entirely wrong.

Actually, most Atheists who are critical of Christianity DO have things to say about Islam and Judaism.

For Judaism, what do you think criticisms of the "Old Testmaent" are about?

For Islam, just check out the Anti-Islam sites... you'll find plenty of Atheist authors, just as you would Christian.

I am not critical of Christianity, I am critical of the way that Christians act. I am also critical of the way that Muslim extremists act. The Jewish mind their own business, so I have no problem at all with them, I actually hold them in high regard. But I become very critical of Christians when they try to push their faith on everyone else, I would be critical of anyone who did so, especially a fellow Buddhist....

Actually i dont like islam either its very male oriented and there are many known cases of rape and spousal abuse among both christianity and islamics. Jews are just misguided, christians and islamics are just plain scary. The reason most people dont comment on Islamics and Jews is because both are in the minorty and not threatening to take over the government.

I am not a liberal, or an intellectual, but I would reckon that they were inspired by spiteful and disrespectful comments made by self proclaimed Christians toward them or others. Or they may just be figuring out a better way to live their lifes'.

In the vast majority of cases, the only people who have tried to convert us to their ways were Christian. Christianity deserves special attention because its followers tend to care more about the fact that some other people don't share their same views. If there were Buddhists running around on this forum threatening people with punishment if they didn't agree with everything they said, everyone would have a problem with Buddhism, too.

I am critical towards fundamentalist Christianity because I used to belong to it so I am knowledgeable in that area.
Other religions I know little about so I feel I could not significantly add to a conversation or debate about them.

Because they don't try to force others to live by their rules. And no, the terrorism coming out of Islam isn't enough. The people that do that are the rare ones.

I suspect because the USA isn't being taken over by Muslims and Jews right now.

You don't see "Muslim Gift Store" or "The Jewish Channel" on tv. You don't see "Focus on the Yiddish Family" bumperstickers. And the President doesn't say that he was chosen to be president by Allah.

Just an idea...
