Yes they will harass you for ever and ever, But here is a few things you can do.
1)change your phone #
2) send a cesit, desist letter demanding them not to contact you anymore, also need to ask then to validate the debt like original contract signed etc. Make sure to sent it certified and if they contact you again, besides sending you the documents validating the debt you can file a lawsuit against them.
How much is the debt? you may have to be care full with this being the debt is relatively new. they could file a lawsuit and you don't want that. but first do those thing up there, guarantee they will not send you any debt validation and if they file a lawsuit motion to Discovery... that means they have to present those documents. With seeing that a collector has that account you don't have to worry about that.
Send out those letters, let me warn you these guys will sell your debt to another collector where then they will have to right to call you so yes you are better off changing you phone number

You can tell them not to call you anymore. If you tell them this, legally they are supposed to stop calling.
That doesn't mean that they can't send you letters or continue try to collect this debt. There is nothing you can do about that. These charge offs come off of your credit after 7 years, but legally the collectors can try to collect this debt for as long as they want to.

Under the FCRA you can send them what is called a "cease and desist" (C&D) letter. Just write "do not contact me in any way, shape or form about this debt again". From that point on, they cannot call you. They cannot write you, except to say they are suing you, which most never do. Send a copy to the BBB just for effect, and that should do the trick.

Tell them to leave you alone. Once your debt was charged off and they bought it.. you have no obligation what so ever to pay them because you didn't have the initial account with them. they can't do anything..
this still baffles me to this day but when i was 16 i had to go through physical therapy and my parents ended up not paying the bill. it ended up on my credit report. about a year ago i started recieving phone calls and found out all the details.. needless to say i was pissed off at my mother.. but anyway..
they can't do anything so just tell them to stop calling you.. or say you're dead.

Do you still have your papers that show everything was charged off? If so, next time they call tell them you will give them the number to your lawyer and that should put a stop to it. What they are doing is illegal and they know that. The same thing happened to me, but once I mentioned my lawyer the calls stopped. Good luck to you.

Ignore them!
It's already been charged off. If you respond to the agency, they will try to put it on your credit report again.
