also when it disengages it pops really hard and i can feel it in the steering.what could be the issue here?

It sounds like your (u)joints are not in time if you do not know how to time them take them to a 4x4 shop not just any shop a shop that you know that does 4x4 work with warranty asap this is very danagerous to drive this like this you can brake off your front wheel at any time Goodluck toyou

Under normal circumstances you can feel it POP as it disengages, you are holding the controls in your hands and can feel the action of the unlocking.
On the pulling, having the Differential on the ight side causes more torque to the left and as long as the right side is engaging there is no real issue.

make sure all of your tires are properly inflated, it sounds like the drive line is binding up. the pop is the front axle disengaging

IF there is a square vacuum operated control on the front axle near the diff. it may have worn out fork pads. you have to get them from the dealer.
