Think of living with a Grey the same as you would living with a 3 year old child. They’re prone to all of the same emotions and reactions as a human is but have the mental capacity of a child.
This makes them extremely intelligent but as unpredictable as you would expect a young child to be. They can be affectionate, curious, moody, stubborn, loveable, peaceful, playful and aggressive all within the same hour. The key is to reward the good behavior and teach him good from bad.
The other part of the answer lies within your own children. Just like birds do, children should also be trained on how to act around birds. I don’t see any reason a well behaved child who understands how to act around the bird wouldn’t be able to live with the bird. In reality, dogs can cause more harm to children than a Grey can but many families have both.
Before purchasing or adopting a Grey, I would strongly recommend classes that will teach you and your family proper handling and care however.

You do make a good choise by getting a Grey, my personal choice is Blue and Golds for people birds.
However Grey's are friendly affectionate and great with people, but like all birds and animals you reap what you sow, if you are unkind and cruel then you can expect then same back two fold in return. If you get the bird explain very importantly the do and dont's to your kids.
There is lots of info on the web about Grey's because of their popularity, so you should not really have any problem that cannot be solved easily.
If you choose to get a Grey my congrats if not unlucky you will loose out for sure, bird are by far the best interactive pet you can get in my eyes.

Before buying the bird, read everything you can on them. At the pet shop, make sure that the bird is social with both you and your children, and that he doesn't bite. Please, don't let the kids tease or torment him, because it can ruin the relationship of trust that you've built. Greys are intelligent and generally good natured if they are treated well. Birds are social creatures and love interaction with people when they are treated that way from the beginning, before you even meet them. (My cockatiel was pampered by his breeder and now still wants and gets it).Greys live a long time if treated well, so keep this in mind. How fortunate you would be to have a little grey friend!
