That depends on which part of South Korea you are in; Seoul the capital city is in the North and can get very cold ( nighttime temp is minus 5 C to minus 8 C and in daytime +5 to 0 dec C ) . Busan (Pusan) on the other hand is southwards and is not as cold (plus one to minus 2C at night and +10 c to +5 c in day time). In either case, since you will most likely be touching Seoul first, you have to prepare for the colder temperatures.
some tips
a) use the local buses to transit between places especially between the international and domestic airports; Taxis are expensive
b) Little english is spoken; generally school going kids speak the best english and take pride in speaking english to you; It would help if you mugged up a few Korean phrases; the language is not impossible like Chinese and is fairly easy to pick up
c) You Mobile phone will not work; its best you hire a phone at the International airport unless you are planning to buy a new phone in Korea. Calls are generally quite cheap
d) Broadband is everywhere, and speeds can touch 100 MBPS so carry a headset and you could use Skype
e) The country has no concept of Vegetarian food, so be prepared; Beef is common in the menu; Eating out is expensive
f) contrary to expectations people are quite friendly especially to Indians. Most friendships (and business deals )are made over dinners and drinking sessions, so you are a vege and a teetotaler you are at a disadvantage
g) If you are offered the local liquor soju (it is like sake) watch out; it is quite potent; you ask ask for a mixer like 7 Up to dilute it; that is acceptable; try to get away by offering to drink their plum wine instead; it is far more enjoyable and milder
h) Take a local guided tour in seoul with an english speaking guide; that's the best way for a newcomer to see the city; if you end up in Busan, there this lovely 8th century city called Kyung-ju (Goeong-Ju) which is about 3 hours away; there is also a resort island

Dec to Fab is winter in Korea.
You want to watch out for strong windchill.
Some describe it as raiser-wind, and it feels like it too.
Don't get too drunk over meeting, if you ended up on the street, people will find your frozen body the next morning.
December and early January will be the best chance for you to do any sighting and shopping.
After that, just stay bundled up and try to survive through the rest of winter!!!! ;)

www.weatherunderground.com
Just type in the place you want to check and go to the history tab. You can see the monthly or weekly weather reports, averages, normals, and highs and lows from several years back

I can tell you though, Korea will be cold, so bring your heavy coat. The rivers freeze hard enough to drive tanks over the ice.
