The world never ends that's another fairy tale the zealots like to
try and scare folks with, God isn't the scary thing they portray,
God is love.

First of all, I would question the survey method this magazine uses. Personally, I don't know anyone who thinks the world is about to end. And secondly, if the world was about to end, who cares about climate change?

If "most Americans" are correct, then don't worry about it. If the world is truly going to end, the only climate we need to worry about is the rather hot one down below, and how to avoid it..(if you know what i mean ;-) ) If "most Americans" are incorrect, then we can only take our scientists advice on how to avert climate change, or slow it down as much as possible.

I, too, would like details on this (I'm an American who's a habitual visitor on newscientist.com, BTW -- "Feedback" is one of the best things on the web!).

Is that a survey of media, who were predicting the end of the world a few weeks ago, but the world seems to have gotten better since -- that ratings ploy couldn't have worked forever, after all.

I mean, this is the land of the ignorant and short-sighted, I grant you, but this sounds a bit much, even for us.

This world population has been destroyed by atomic blasts many times before, once almost splitting the earth into fragments. But humanity is now close to discovering the grand portal and outside forces will keep it safe until the late 21st century to ensure this discovery by mankind.

A few years ago we most of us in the USA. Ever heard of a muslim. Least I didn't but they came up out of no where to destroy the earth for us. How nice. Like we couldn't do it fast enough on our own.

Not much, Reagan's policy on environmental protection of anytime was mainly faith based which was Why protect the environment when the second coming is soon? It set a nice precedent, look at what the Bush administration is doing for the environment.

to stop an unnecessarily premature death.
I am coming to the belief, considering how slow we are to learn anything, that man was put on this earth as a virus. he serves no purpose except to put the world out of balance, to destroy many different lifeforms, and in the end, to destroy himself as well.
perhaps the earth itself found that the last time was too destructive, and man would do the same thing without its having to do anything else.

You can't. The numbers says we are going down. Economics says we can't stop it cause it's better to go down later and not now. I guess atheism has commonality with religion then, the end of the world.
