At competitions i begin to do my sit-ups and catch cramps. the first competition i got them in my ankle and the next one i got them in my hips. i don't know what im doing wrong or if there is something wrong with my hips or ankles. it is a really sharp pain where that part of my body locks up and i cant move it. what should i do?

Actually, it is because you aren't keeping your knees together! I suggest that you put your ankles about 12 inches apart and keep your knees tight together. This should end your problem. Also, you will get a much better abdominal workout! You may wish to bend your knees a bit less, extending your feet about 6 inches forward as well. This will also help your workout and ease some of the pressure on your hips. It helps to keep you from using your legs for anything other than balance.
