is he actually crying or is he talking to you? the black catds love to talk and tell you all about everything--whatever everything is!-- try talking to him as if he was a person--he will stop talking and listen to you for a few minutes. then cuddle him and whisper in his ear and he will settle down. it works.

My neutered cat went through something like that a couple of months ago. And yes, the constant meowing and vocalizations can be very very distracting and irritating. Then I figured out that there was another cat that he spots regularly through the windows (I don't think the cat was a stray). He was meowing for me to let him out so he could either mark his territorial boundaries or run the other cat off. I partially solved the problem by shutting the blinds on ALL windows so my cat couldn't see out. (Of course it was another deal getting him off from poking his paws and nose through the blinds - but I managed). Then he did not meow too much - I mean, I think he kinda "forgot" about what he saw outside for long stretches during the day. THEN I moved into a new house and the irritating constant meowing behavior has totally stopped.

So, maybe if you shut all your blinds when your cat is up and about will help?

Is he strictly an indoor cat? Perhaps he simply wants more room to roam around in. You should start writing down when he cries and anything you notice when he does cry. Maybe then you can find some sort of pattern. Are you sure he is healthy? You might want to take him to a vet just to make sure.

Good luck,

Call the vet right now. Seriously - right now. There is a reason and you need to find out what it is - right now. Call the after hours line or contact an emergency vet service - right now.

(Maybe he's depressed? Did someone just move out? How long have you had him? Was he recently removed from the only other people he knows?

If he pulls away from you when you're giving him love and affection it could be something internal. My cat will either avoid me or cling to me if he's not feeling well. There's no in between.)

Good luck. Call the vet - right now.

Is it really non-stop. If it is, then a vet visit might be in order. If he tends to do it when he wants attention, then you just have a vocal cat. Some of them like to talk alot.

I have one, Zappy, his favorite time to do his singing is about 3:30 AM, when I am sound asleep. I guess he gets lonesome for some company during the night, or gets bored or something. I know he's not hungry, because I leave food out all the time. It's just an attention thing.

Just sounds to me your cat is very vocal. Siamese are very vocal and meow all the time too. I had a male tabby that would walk up and down the halls meowing randomly in the middle of the night. Just try to keep alll the bedrooms open so he has free range and can make his "rounds"

Male cats sometimes have kidney or bladder stones, if they eat the wrong kind of dry food. This is a serious condition. Check to see if he's urinating.
He may need a checkup to see if he has "stones" that are blocking his urinary track.
Sometimes Siamese cats cry (vocalize) a lot, but your cat is a black cat, so that's probably not it.

Take him to a vet for a check up, has he been fixed? Do you let him go outside? Does he have any activity toys or a nesting place? Did he used to have playmates that he might be trying to locate? I think it's something he might grow out of, but he may need a companion. Animals get lonely too.

Is he neutered? He could smell a female in heat outside. He could also see another cat outside. Make sure he has food and water ( if you have switched cat food he may be complaining about the new kind). Also check his litter box some cats complain if it is dirty.

If your cat is crying "non-stop," day and night, something is wrong. Although he may seem healthy to you, he may have a physical condition or illness of which you are not aware. For his well-being and for your own peace of mind, please...take him to the vet and have him checked over.
